Well, it wasn't just hype. The devs out and out lied about a number of features of the game as well (like the fact that you could see other people if you managed to find them in the universe).

2017-08-11 20:25:32 +0000 UTCNot played it myself but from what I've read it was in many ways a victim of hype. People were expecting a game very different from what they ever actually offered. That said I've also heard that it felt very rushed and was underdeveloped which is not acceptable (again not played myself).

2017-08-11 20:11:44 +0000 UTCI tried it, and due to spending a couple hours with the game freezing/crashing, and trying to figure out how to work around some bugs so I could actually do anything productive, I accidentally "played" for over an hour, and got boned out of the Steam refund.
