So I don't why, but I hate making the choice to skip something because I'm sick. Being the one to verbalize it makes me feel guilty, for some reason. Like I'm worried someone is going to think I'm faking it just to get out of doing something I don't want to do.
So I end up just trying to be as silently and visibly miserable as I can, in the hopes that someone else (my wife) will say "Oh you poor thing, you should stay in bed today!"
Perhaps its residual guilt from the many times I faked being sick to stay home from school, but I always just feel more at ease when someone else has made the decision for me.
