Well, imagine if you played Super Mario Bros as a kid, and every time you played a level, you were passing the rotting corpses of your previous Marios. Actually, that sounds pretty cool. But anyway, yeah, Ethan's power is rooted in gaming, and so when he dies, all traces of him disappear when he respawns :D
