Jedi Knight 2 was a huge game for me back when it came out. I played a lot of it, and I spent a lot of time tinkering under the hood ( https://cad-comic.com/winter-een-mas-2006-video-game-tribute-day-two/ ).
Apparently, though, my brain had surpressed the first few hours of the game, which are downright miserable compared to the core gameplay present later. Some of this is likely due to playing it on a Switch, as opposed to Mouse and Keyboard like it was intended, and some of it is probably just indicative of the times; mechanics and level design have improved since then, which makes the early section of JK2 stand out.
Still, though, if you can get past that rough opening, JK2 remains, in my opinion, one of the best Star Wars games ever made.
