TVD Season 5= Bad writing on many levels (not all, but the majority.) I could write a thesis on them

Meagan

Like I've said many times before when Juli started watching this season, Season 5 is a season where the writers simply had bad writing and made MANY mistakes in the writers room (in my opinion, as well as MANY others opinions).

Meagan

I agree with you Carine. You're right, it doesn't make sense to have Caroline hate Damon more in season five than she did in any prior season. I honestly think it has a little bit to do with the fact that writers are rotated through episodes. It sometimes feels like the things some of the characters do are not consistent with the point they're at in their development, same with the plot. I find sometimes this happens because one writer's view of a plot or character can be much different than another's, and even though they are well versed in the plot's final direction, they sometime's fail to do every aspect prior developed justice.

YES OMG i thought i was the only one

dennis

I totally agree I hate how the writers do that.

Okay, as a Caroline fan, I have to talk about this. after all that Damon has done to Caroline, she has every right to hate him, but I feel that in those episodes that anger is totally out of nowhere hahaha I really think sometimes writers get lost in the coherence of things, in the past seasons, Caroline seemed to have already gotten over it, then the writers suddenly come back with it, the same thing they do with Damon's hatred for Katherine for example, especially in Season Five, they forget about, then bring it back, and then They forget about it again, and about her getting in the middle of who Elena loves, is something I really do not like, but she's not the only one, Elena does this all the time with Stefan, every time he finds someone she does not like a little bit, she thinks she can give her opinion about it. how do you think everyone (including Damon and Elena) will react when they find out that Stefan has just slept with Katherine in this episode? This is the problem with TV Shows, you have to accept what the writers do with you favorite characters, even Damon and Stefan annoys me sometimes (I will not talk much about it to avoid spoilers), Elena almost always annoys me, but in this first half of the season 5, the one who annoys me the most was definitely Caroline hahahaha

Did it bother anyone else that when Elena and Damon were in the cages or cell's that sometimes there were bars between them so they could see each other and Damon could even touch her and other times there was a massive solid wall and they couldn't see or touch each other?

Charlie

Great observation...Crazy how Anti Damon want to leave that out....None of these characters are truely bad or good....Certain events that have taken place should tell us that yet that aspect is overlooked.

HazelAmarie

I wholeheartedly agree with this!! and yes Julie and Kevin should've much more careful when writing those scenes for the vampires.

The thing with caroline and damon from season 1 is extremely controversial, firstly we don't actually know whether damon and caroline had sex after caroline found out damon was a vampire, we only that they had sex before she found out, although if they did have sex after she was compelled to not be afraid of him it would have been considered rape in another univerise because she wouldn't have been able to give consent, the problem is the writers didn't see it that way when they wrote the show back in 2009, so what damon did to caroline and andie isn't considered rape in the tvd universe. Not a single character on tvd has called it rape, not even caroline. If Julie and kevin knew how controversial those scenes would have been, they wouldn't have written it because damon is suppose to end up being a character we can love. And if we want to talk about rape and rape culture on the show, its more than just damon. Tyler in 1x01 tried to force himself on vikki, Katherine compelled Stefan to not be afraid of her and continued to have a sexual relationship with him, Klaus almost had sex with caroline when he was in tyler's body, Stefan wrote in his journal that he was having sex with woman he had compelled to drink blood from. There's even a flashback scene of Stefan drinking blood from a human while he had his hand up her skirt. So it's not just damon, most of the characters have done something that has alluded to rape or rape culture, the reason I can't hate the characters for it is bc this was solely the writers fault for not seeing it as rape when they wrote the show. The character aren't suppose to be rapists in the tvd universe, so i'm not gonna see them as rapists.

The doppelganger thing is not fully explained yet, but the answer to your question about Silas and Amara being dead and that stopping the "universe" from drawing the doppelgangers together is no.

Jenny

you probably don't remember this, but in season 1 episode 5 elena is looking at footage that inevitably leads her to find out that Stefan is a vampire. That footage is the day after damon got captured by the augustines. Elena asks logan fell that she was searching for an incident from 1953 at the boarding house. It's pretty cool how this storyline connects perfectly with a scene from season 1.
