Its not bad writing. If you actually paid attention. People said the break up came out of nowhere but its been built up since Season 1. Damon has always been impulsive and thought he isn't good enough to have love or be happy. This entire season is dedicated to Damon's insecurities and working through them. Its insanely smart writing. There are other bad writing decisions of course, but Delena's arc was not one of them

(especially as a Delena shipper). Like I've said before and will continue to say Season 5 is one of my least favorite seasons due to BAD WRITING FROM THE WRITERS.

2018-03-06 02:55:26 +0000 UTCExactly it was never rainbows and sunshine for Stelena. They broke up how many times in season 1?? it took her a while for her to get used to him being a vampire. Then season 2 with the sacrifice, they broke up because of Katherine. He sacrificed himself for Damon. They weren't even together at all in season 3, The triangle was such a powerful force in that season. They were together for a short time in season 4. Yes they had less internal drama and more external drama whereas Delena have internal and external drama at the same times.

2018-03-06 02:49:28 +0000 UTCAlso it's funny that you say that the writers have a preference towards Stefan and Elena when over the years I've always heard the opposite and a lot of fans (Stelena) fans say that the writers have a preference and bias towards Damon and Delena and to be honest the love triangle is not even an issue at this point. Damon has saved Elena countless times over the series (more times than Stefan actually... I think). I guess they needed Damon to have that moment with Enzo. This is a Damon problem and a Damon and Elena issue, Stefan is not a factor here.

The thing about Damon is that he keeps letting what people say about him influence him and his decisions. He loved Enzo like a brother and he feels horrible for abandoning, he feels like he truly is a monster. Like he doesn't deserve Elena, he doesn't want to CHANGE her. And Elena was just in a state of shock at the end, it's not like she was okay with it. We've seen her fight for him in season 4 and we know how persistent she is in regards to Damon when she wants to be. I agree that this was a stupid episode, and your rant although a bit true also made me laugh a little. I said it once and I'll say it again, Stelena WAS the golden couple, the one everyone rooted for. Delena IS the tragic couple, the underdog that has to fight to prove themselves every time. This isn't over, and I'm not even spoiling because we are only in season 5 and there 8 seasons. There's still so much road, obstacles, triumphs and great things ahead. Can't wait till 100TH episode.... yikes. You're great and don't be so discouraged lol.

2018-03-06 02:39:40 +0000 UTCThat's true though it wasn't sun shines and rainbows for Stefan and Elena. Though it's important to note that in the long run season 5 is a bit uneven and flawed. There's still some good in it with regards to plot, characters, etc. It's just you can tell this a transitioning season as many things changed both on screen and off. Such as The Originals airing at the same time. But yes this Elena and Damon drama was annoying.

In some ways Damon is bad for Elena is done awful things before but, I still think that this breakup was merely for the sake of drama. Get used couples constantly making and breaking up it's almost as annoying when PLL does to Aria and Ezra.

This is a interesting arc because enzo is having a effect on Damon which is helping him grow into a better person and what he's doing is honorable not wanting to be a negative influence on Elena. Yo can't freak out on every story line that has a rough patch for delena cause if you are your in for a long road.
