Even then, the show-runners don't assume you've read any comics or even watched any of the movies. (You saw that with season 1.)

Tom Sinclair

I had to look up the episode to which you were referring (I know them by titles, not numbers) but I absolutely agree!

Thought about it and "gifted" is more used for mutants because it's implied with it that the person was born that way rather than got powers through and accident or experimentation. Obviously, it's the most positive term for mutants used. Most other names are negative.

The great thing about this show is they do reveal everything. You don't have to have a comic knowledge background or look stuff up. For me as a comic fan since a child, this show just rewarded me over and over with amazing takes on the comics. But my son who has absolutely no comic knowledge loves the show just as much.

This episode is where I started disliking Jemma. And also really wanted to punch Mack for his insensitivity and his blaming Skye, as though she wanted this. And Bobbi pissed me off to no end. That they are also harboring a secret made them less appealing. What Mack did to Hunter as well. Watching this the first time and trying to figure it out, what the secret is, drove me nuts. I love how this show builds so many layers of each character. We can go from one episode to adoring a character to the next episode and wanting to smash a fist in their face. I can't wait till you get to episode 17, my absolute favorite from Season 2.

You're right. Skye thinks that suppressing emotions is the same as controlling them. May manages hers by working through them. It was bad enough before but now that Skye has powers that seem to trigger off her emotions, this could be trouble. Oddly enough, her father also seems to have trouble dealing with strong emotions ;)

The show doesn't assume that you have watched any Marvel movies or read the comics. They'll give you everything you need to know.

Loved the sparring between Skye and May in the beginning. Also, this is a hard episode to watch Bobbi and Mack going through whatever scheme they're planning. We got to like them both and now we're not sure whose side they're on. Once again, Fitz and Skye are good at making me cry.

Tom Sinclair

They do not use the term "meta-human" in Marvel. That is a DC thing. Marvel calls their powered people "mutants," "enhanced," "gifted," and also...THIS thing, which they'll tell you later on the show. "Enhanced" and "gifted" are just general terms for any powered person. "Mutant" is a specific thing, humans born with the X gene that may become active at some point. What Skye/Daisy and Raina are is something else.

Yes, 'cause the comics are the basis for these stories, but the movies and TV shows follow their own timelines/storylines and are not 1-to-1 representations of the comics. So, in all of these things, it is not necessary to have read the comics. The shows/movies explain everything you need to know. If you've read, it's mostly cool Easter Eggs of knowledge.

Thadman

Live-action, yes. In the comics, they are all in the same universe.

Thadman

they are part alien but you will find out what they are called later

Don't try to read anything.. Let the show reveal it. You are right in wanting to do that. You will love it, just as you already do.

Agents of Shield is in the same universe as The Avengers and the Netflix shows (Daredevil, The Defenders etc.). They are not in the same universe as The Xmen. They are both Marvel but Xmen is owned by a different company. Skye is human but what she is exactly will be explained later this season.
