Not to mention that they seem to almost blame the HYDRA infiltration on Fury and his secrets. So anything connected to Fury (Coulson and his team) is viewed with suspicion. My question is - while Coulson was out fighting HYDRA, where have these people been? Hiding on their boat?

You seem to like discovering every single thing for yourself and believe me it is all there to be discovered on your own. It may not be right away all the time but those omg that's why they did that scenes are the best to find out for yourself. Sorry, some seem to be unaware they are spoiling and some seem to not care.
