Off switch Elena was honest and equally as snarky as Damon was which is why I enjoyed her so much....It may be off putting for some but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just to clarify:
The woman Silas loved was killed by Qetsiyah, and since this was before Qetsiyah created 'the other side' the woman passed on 'to find peace'.
Qetsiyah then created the other side and hoped that Silas would take the cure and die - he would end up on 'the other side' forever with Qetsiyah, away from his true love.
Silas doesn't want to bring down the veil to the other side to get someone back, he wants 'the other side' gone so that he won't be stuck there when he dies and will instead move on to find peace and be with his true love.
About the other side and it being purgatory:
I don't remember Anna's mother saying that it was peaceful, but from what Anna and other vampires have told us and from what we have seen they are all alone on the other side and they can't interract with our world, they can just watch.
Anna says this in Season 3 Episode 7: "I don't think all supernatural spirits go to the other side. I think some of them find peace."
A bit later when explaining why she took the necklace (so Bonnie couldn't bring the veil back up) she says "I don't know where she is, Jeremy. I don't know if she's moved on and found peace, or if there's even any peace to be found."
The exception to this is witches as we have heard from Bonnie and from her Grandmother. This quote explains it well:
"trapped on the other side of the Veil as Ghosts, alone from one another, though it should be noted that only Witch Spirits have free reign on the Other Side; can communicate with each other freely and can (with the right conditions) use magic to affect the mortal plane."
About Jenna specifically; It seems she moved on and found 'peace' instead of being stuck on the other side because she was pure or something; she died right after becoming a vampire. Esther says "You may draw comfort knowing that your aunt is not in the place that I was. She doesn't know the torment of the other side. Though made a vampire, she remained pure, and she knows peace... which is all any of us can hope for. "
This was a great emotional and sad episode and awesome reaction.

Nina Dobrev deserves a giant well done for creating one of the best scenes in TVD.

This is why I love Elena, the fact that she has stayed strong throughout these years, holding back her true emotions. She so angry at the world, she probably wishes she would've never know about Supernatural Beings. Which is why I like this season, It really makes us see why Elena is why she is. It sucks that a lot of people don't like off-switch humanity Elena because those are a few of my favorite episodes. I hope you like her.

The breakdown of Elena has to be one of my favorite scenes of the vampire diaries. Think about it, imagine that you lose your brother or sister at a young age and that after losing your entire family, I honestly would breakdown like she did. In my opinion, family in life is SO important. As much as I LOVE Delena I don't think he would have been ' enough ' at the moment to make her feel better without using the sire bond and I believe thats what he meant by ' im not enough, not this time'. I dont especially love the fact that her humanity is gone.. but I dont see what else could have been done, because using the sirebond to try to make her forget or lie to her and tell her its gonna be fine would have been disrespectful towards Elena's feelings. It's just so sad :( Definitely an episode where you need tissues LOL Shout out to Nina for her acting, big respect !

Juli, IT'S NOT A SPOILER: this whole thing with the other side, about peace and death of supernatural creaters will be relieved in all upcoming seasons, all storylines from now is going to have a part in next seasons, somethings from season 4 are going to apper in season 8! So, keep your attention, bc it's really easy to forget a lot of things. This episode is just amazing, amazing acting from Nina as well. Her breakdown reminded me of some scenes with her, when you will see again how good she is with her skills!

I'm not sure what stefan had in mind when they wanted damon to use the sire-bond on Elena in the beginning. what did he want him to do? tell her to forget about jeremy? or not to feel bad that he died? Now that would have been selfish had Damon used the SB to pretty much LIE to Elena that everything was okay after he saw her have an emotional breakdown before his eyes....And a cheat to Jeremy Elena needed to properly mourn her brother without any interference which brings to surface how much I loved the dichotomy from this episode and what it says about Elena and how she reacted with both brothers. With Stefan, she is in denial. It’s almost like she absorbs his biggest trait, the one that pushes him not to face reality and its consequences. She sits next to Jeremy, she doesn’t smell his corpse decomposing. She locks everything out. When Damon arrives home reality sets in. She tells April that her brother is dead. She goes upstairs and realizes her brother has been dead all along. She can smell it now. She lets reality sink in. She breaks down and Damon is there to catch her. This episode is one of the most well rounded/heartbreaking and emotional episodes to date the way Dobrev portrayed her character so flawlessly in this episode was/is top notch and truly showcases how diverse she is as an actress she plays two doppelgangers who look exactly a like but would have you thinking they're TWO different people that's how amazing she is and the entire cast as a whole they play so well off each other so well you can feel what these characters are going through. Excited to see what you will think about Elena in the upcoming episodes....She burned her house down with her dead brother inside of it which is symbolism that the old Elena is REALLY gone and new one will surface just going to take some kinks to get through it all.

Elena’s breakdown felt like someone ripped my heart out and smashed it with a hammer 😭 I’m excited to see what you’ll think of her in the next few episodes as she is very... different. But anyways, great reaction as always Juli! They’ll explain more about the other side stuff, which is actually a very intriguing storyline. Can’t wait to rewatch the next few seasons with everyone here!
