Another Easter Egg is, also in the comics, Roy did leave Ollie because he became a drug addict, heroin, I believe. Afterward, for a while, he did feel Ollie abandoned him and he became a vigilante on his own. Trained with all types of weapons and started calling himself "Arsenal." Before, he was called "Speedy." He got perspective when he got clean though and stopped blaming Ollie. It was one of the first representations of drug addiction in the comics by a hero. It was VERY controversial, at the time, that they tackled the subject when, IRL, it was still considered taboo to talk about it and painted as something that criminals are, not a sickness.

2019-04-12 04:31:43 +0000 UTCOne of the old school tools that Green Arrow used to use all the time in the comics was the boxing glove arrow, to knock people out. It's an old staple of his trick arrows that's always been made fun of and joked about, even in the comics. Ollie using it here against Ted was a nice little Easter Egg for that.

He's given great respect 'cause even though he has no powers, he's one of the best fighters in the DC Universe and was part of an earlier version (and another Earth's) of the Justice League called The Justice Society of America (JSA). By proxy, Laurel is also considered one of the best hand-to-hand fighters.
