Those paintings and drawings that Simon were doing, I believe, were of the domes they talk about in the future that are mostly under the ice, where everyone lives. It's a cool and inexpensive way for us to get glimpses of the future without having to film and make sets for a futuristic landscape. Kinda like conceptual art.

2019-04-20 04:11:22 +0000 UTCI think it was also hard for the Director to find Simon. They said no records from the institution survived outside the 21st. I don't know if the Director had further plans for him or not, but he seemed to be essentially off the grid.

The director has only ever killed 3 kinds of people: * Faction members * People who were historically about to die * Traitors after a trial (the guy in season 1) While Simon did do bad things he thought he was following the directors orders. He thought 001 had gotten a new mission from the director.
