I love your reactions to these, you have some very good thoughts about the episodes. You're correct about having heard stories where Arthur pulls the sword from a rock, but there are SO many legends, you'll see a bunch of them in the show ;)

I still hate Uther and will throughout this entire series. However, at least we finally see a good side to him when he shares with his son how much he loves him. It's not often Uther shows his humanity. I loved the story behind Nimueh, Uther, and how she made it possible for Arthur to be born through her sorcery, which kills Arthur's mother upon her giving birth to Arthur. It's tragic and it makes me hate Uther even more for keeping this truth from Arthur. As for Excalibur... there are many Arthurian Legends and different origins for this sword destined to be wielded only by Arthur when he is deemed worthy. This sword comes into the stories at different points in time and in different ways, for different reasons. You are correct in remembering Arthur being the only one worthy to be able to pull Excalibur from a stone. And it's a very important moment for Arthur. Until next time...
