While I have always known that Arthur and Merlin were meant to be platonic, it has never stopped me from shipping them. They have the best chemistry in the show and in my mind, they will always be in love with each other.

I ship them so hard, and I feel like gay men have so few shipping opportunities because shows never let two men appear that intimate unless they are the designated gay couple. Having grown up watching Xena, i totally appreciate the fun in shipping in the mainstream. It's like my very own Xena/Gabrielle with these two! Haha

I love that Arthur came to help Merlin because he respects and cares for him, even though Merlin is his manservant. That was my favorite part about this episode, and seeing how much Arthur cared to try to save as many people from Merlin's village as he could. However, I didn't really care so much about how Arthur treated Merlin in the end though for keeping the secret about Will supposedly being a sorcerer. I can understand why he was so upset about one of them having magic, because for Arthur's entire life, magic has been outlawed and Uther has ingrained it into Arthur's mind that magic and sorcery is evil. And yet... I like that Arthur also respected Will enough because he had saved his life, to give Merlin the chance to help make Will as comfortable as he was able and to say his goodbyes. I also liked seeing both Guinevere and Morgana fighting in the battle as well. And I loved how Guinevere stood up to Arthur to convince him that the women had as much right to fight for their people as well. And my other favorite moment... is that brief spark of respect and doey eyes between Arthur and Guinevere too. The beginning of what's to come. :) Overall... it was a very good episode as well. It was nice to see Merlin's mother again. Thank you! Until the next episode...
