I heard a British person, I think it was a comedian, mentioned "chavs" and then explained ('cause the person interviewing them was from the U.S.) that probably the closest term we have for it here is, sorta, "white trash" but it's a very specific type of category of "low-brow" personality. The way Kelly speaks and does her hair and makeup is why people think she's a chav. She was instantly my favorite character. ;-) Partially 'cause I couldn't understand a lot of what she said and it cracked me up, especially when Nathan, right off, acknowledged that he couldn't understand her when she speaks, even though he was being a dick. He can be a dick, but he's often hilarious. :-D

There weren't very many superhero things on TV at the time, so it was taking a more realistic approach and less dynamic or comic book-like. Later, shows began to not shy away from more traditional comic book superheroes. But, I'm guessing this show helped ease people into the concept. Was really liking S2, but didn't finish it for some reason. I should, at least, watch through S3.

2019-07-27 04:24:15 +0000 UTCI'd heard that too, at the time, but forgot about it until you just said. Don't know if they ever shot anything. A lot of times pilots get shot and never get picked up, so maybe that happened.

Btw, Gary (the guy who got killed) was also in GOT. He was Pyp, one of Jon's friends on the Night's Watch who died in Season 4

There was a rumor a few years ago that there wold be an American remake of it that was supposed to air on Freeform. They even cast most of the characters, last I saw. But it's been a couple of years with no new information so I doubt it's ever going to end up being made. Although, I'd be happy to see it if it ever does
