They recapped it on the "previously on Avatar" segment before the episode because, at this point, there have been so many episodes and characters/plot points introduced, they want to remind you of stuff that happened before that's gonna pertain to what they're about to show you. Those become more and more important as the series goes on since there's a lot more history to pull from. Heh, maybe the "previously on Avatar" should be called, "In case you've forgotten..."

I only watched it recently as an adult and I thought they did a great job of creating something new and different while adding the right amount of nostalgia! I loved it! Hope Juli finds the time to react to it at some point :)

Also, there is a avatar spinoff called The Legend Of Korra which I dont know if it's still on Netflix but there avatar fans who love it and other fans who hate it although I'm pretty sure you would like it
