Uther is a tyrant, this is true, he should be killed, also true. It is true that Merlin kept his secret from Morgana, but there was no requirement to tell her, and if something as flimsy as him not telling her something she never knew or thought of is a good enough reason to decide that not just Uther but everyone in Camelot should be killed (which is really what she agreed too, twice) than okay, but honestly her decisions are her own. Uther is 100% in the wrong, but that does not mean that Morgana is in the wright. They are both bad.

Also the thing the dragon said about Morgana turning her back on everyone... Literally the only thing Morgana agreed to is the fact that she wants Uther dead. Didn't the dragon literally try to coerce Merlin into not stopping Uther's assassination last season? Morgana's being done dirty by all these assholes...

I'm so glad you didn't fall for Gaius & Merlin's rewriting history regarding Morgana. This all happened because they decided they had to keep her in the dark 'for her own good'. Bitch you left that girl having a goddamn heart attack, feeling all alone in the middle of an anti-magic city. No wonder she'll gravitate towards Morgause, you basically did everything you could to make her vulnerable to being manipulated...

Also, everyone in the show knows what Uther is. No-one agrees with his actions. The only person that will grieve when he dies is Arthur. However, Arthur is not ready to be King. Whilst he will one day be a great ruler, at this point he is still young and has a lot to learn before he takes the throne. That's why Merlin protects Uther and keeps him alive. Putting Arthur on the throne now is a bad idea. Plus, if Uther's death comes via magical means, any sympathy Arthur has for the plight of those with magic will disappear. Uther must stay alive til Arthur is ready for the throne and must die naturally or the kingdom will fall into more turmoil.

I do believe that Merlin and Gaius did genuinely believe that keeping Morgana in the dark was the best way to protect her from Uther's wrath but their attempts to shield/protect her were misguided. The whole thing is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you are told someone is gonna be evil, there is two reactions - try to prevent it or treat them as if it has already happened. The second option will definitely cause it to happen but the first can go either way. It's could prevent it but your actions could cause it to happen anyway. That's what happened with Morgana. Their attempts to prevent it from coming true have caused it.

I agree with you about Merlin's pov coming from a position of priviledge. He was protected by his mother and Gaius so he doesn't live in the run, afraid of being killed for who he is, he has guidance from Gaius and even Kilgarragh, so he has been able to figure out what to do when things were too much and, especially, he was also informed about the prophecy involving Arthur becoming a great King so he has something no other magic being in Camelot has: hope. Hope moves mountains as they say and very few are aware it exists. Like Morgana, who sees no other way because she was so alone, in fear of being killed at any moment due to a misstep, watching people die for the "crime" of being who she is, knowing the people she considers the only family she ever knew (Uther and Arthur) are the perpetrators of such acts. Then you have Merlin's father, exiled, living in a literal cave, missing out on a life with the woman he loves and their son. Uther has committed genocide and he continues doing so, the people of Camelot are innocent, yeah, but they agree with his actions and would accuse any sorcerer if they were aware of one waking among them. Balinor owed nothing to Camelot anymore, it was like asking a jew in WWII to go save Berlin because a group of ex prisoners were trying to end Hitler. That said, I do like Merlin, I like that he has obvious faults, he is not perfect. I just wish they were acknowledged more in the show. And my favorite season maybe is season 4 though I have a special love for the last episodes of season 2 and parts of 5.

I agree with you that Merlin had an opportunity to make this turn out different. The legends do always make Morgana a villain, but that is perspective. Uther is just as much a villain as any that we have met. And when people follow blindly without asking questions, and nobody talks to each other, the greatest evils are allowed to take place. The world's greatest crimes have been committed by people just following orders, and that is not okay. Merlin had the benefit of not being alone in coming to terms with his powers. A benefit that no one allowed Morgana.

I agree with you about Colin Morgan's (Merlin) performance in this episode. It was phenomenal and you truly can feel the emotion coming from him.
However, you don't seem to understand that Merlin knows full well the awful King Uther is. Merlin despises Uther and he wouldn't feel badly if Uther died, except he would feel bad for Arthur. He stopped Arthur from killing Uther to spare Arthur the pain. Yes... perhaps things would have been better had Arthur killed Uther and knew the full truth, but the truth would have destroyed Arthur. How could Arthur have been King after killing his own father? The guilt would have plagued him his whole life if Merlin didn't lie to Arthur to save not only Uther, but Arthur's life as well. Also, while Arthur is destined to become King of Camelot, he is not yet ready to become King. He has lessons still to learn.
Uther is an evil man and a lot of Camelot's suffering is caused by Uther. Not all of it, but most. Merlin knows it, Gaius knows it, Guinevere and Morgana know it, and even a small part of Arthur knows it despite Merlin's lie. I fully believe this. Since Morgause revealed the truth to Arthur about his mother and he spoke with his mother, the doubt in his mind has forever been planted. Plus... Arthur defies Uther a number of times, going against his father because he disagrees with him. So of course a part of Arthur knows Uther is a bad King. However, despite this, Uther is his father first and as any son would, he loves his father.
And as for Morgana... if you knew any of the Arthurian legends and stories at all, Morgana is a villain just as the Great Dragon has told Merlin. And while you feel that by Merlin and Gaius keeping the secrets about her having magic and showing the ways of using her magic for good as Merlin has is wrong, they did so because they had to. They were not only protecting Merlin, who is destined to become the most powerful Wizard that Camelot and the world will ever know, and they were also protecting her from Uther's tyranny as well.
And just as Merlin is destined to become a great Wizard, Morgana has her own destiny to fulfill too. We may not agree with all the reasons for what comes and with everyone always protecting Uther, but there are reasons why all must be done. The time for Arthur to be King is coming. And sadly... mistakes will be made, as they have been already. "Evil isn't born, it's made."

I love Arthur and Guinevere!!!! My favorite moment in Sweet Dreams is easily the most beautiful... as Guinevere kisses Arthur to bring Arthur out of the enchantment. And yes... Arthur loves her so much. :)

What does it mean to sponsor something?
Is there like a different tier to subscribe to which enables us to recommend a movie or show or do we pay privately?
Also loving these Merlin reactions. Gonna binge every minute of it when I wake up in the morning. Thanks Juli.
