So I really like Jason, but the reason I love Peggy with Daniel is because of what his insecurity represents. She didn't go on the date in season 1 with him because she went to try and let go of Steve Rogers. She had to stop holding on and her getting rid of his blood was symbolic of that. Daniel, who is crippled by a war injury and looked down upon, sees this as confirmation that he can never match up to the hero that Peggy loved. And that's the only reason he moved on. But after Peggy let's Steve go, she is able to have feelings for Daniel without feeling guilty, and it's because Daniel is every bit as much a hero as Steve Rogers, despite his lack of super strength and despite his injury. He's a person who stands up for what's right even when the odds are against him. Daniel's journey in season 2 is about realising that it's this, above any other quality that Peggy valued in Steve... and also that she values in him. They are the same, despite what makes them different on the surface.
