TVD 7x06 REACTION (Early Access)

Did you say Caroline is confident in relationships? Caroline!? I send you to Seasons 1&2 as reference. The only reason we haven’t seen much of her in a relationship lately is because Tyler was never around and Klaus was always chasing her. Caroline being birchy to other women and asserting her alpha-ness is pretty classic. OR.. You can say carrying babies is affecting her more than we’ve realized?

Everyone was confused at first, but it actually makes for a really fun storyline :) I felt they handled Candice's real life pregnancy very well this way.

Just want to point out a few things: vampires can't get pregnant because they can't PROCREATE, but technically jo was the one doing procreating, so they're not really caroline's babies. The twins were already growing in jo's womb and there is a simple explaination as to how caroline can be a surrogate. As to how this plotline came to be, julie plec said that she felt that killing not just jo but also the twins ended up being too dark, so for this season she came up with the idea of the gemini coven transferring the twins into a surrogate to parallel the reveal that stefan was almost a father. Originally the surrogate was gonna be a new character who just popped up on alaric's doorstep, but then julie changed it to caroline after she got a phone call from Candice king who plays caroline 2 weeks before filming the season saying she was 3 months pregnant. This way, they wouldn't have to hide her baby bump by shooting candice behind kitchen counters or cuddled in a couch with a pillow on her stomach, granted they would've still had to write her out for a few episodes while candice goes on maternity leave to have her baby. Plus, I think the idea that caroline having pregnant vampire mood swings coupled with her OCD is just hilarious. Also, I was never really a shipper of klaroline and I was starting to get bored of steroline, so I was perfectly fine with the idea of Caroline and Alaric together. When it comes to dating a vampire, I feel like age of consent tends to go out the window, plus after all the crap he's been through Alaric deserves a break dang it!
