Yes! I totally agree!!! That's what bothers me the most. The fact they can't let go of the good/bad brother thing. They are better than that.

But I donβt think Stefan is self righteous, the reason he keeps saving Damon is because Damon is his brother and he loves him. The same way Damon would keep saving Elena bc he loves her. Idk I think youβre looking at Stefanβs character wrong lol. But I do hate how they keep going back and forth with the whole βDamon is badβ thing. Heβs grown a lot I wish they would show it.

Raina who is a vampire hunter on a mission to kill and punish vampires doesn't want to hurt Stefan because he is a supposedly "good" vampire. I mean come on show. The writers totally did that just to pin the brothers against each other.

And I agree, Stefan is very dependent on Damon but I think itβs because Stefan canβt get over the fact that he made his brother a vampire against his will and considers everything that has happened since to be his fault. Damon used to protect him from their fatherβs rage growing up and as the baby brother, he canβt imagine a world without his big bro. I think itβs sweet.

2019-01-05 17:38:26 +0000 UTCHi Julie, I actually found your comment very interesting regarding Stefan being the good brother and Damien always being the selfish one. I'm not a fan of Damon, at all. Actually hate the guy. But the writers do have this annoying tendency to go back and forth with the character. I don't think the whole thing was about Stefan being the so good again. It was more about Stefan having this dependency on Damon. He has never been able to let him go. This is about Damon always choosing himself over everyone else. He comes up with a plan and then backs down the minute he finds a better option for himself and putting everyone else in danger. And I get it, its his character. But yeah, after seven seasons its starting to get stale. You said that everyone gives Damon a hard time and not Stefan and I actually think its the opposite. What has been my experience is how Damon's actions, as selfish as they are, are always justified because "well, thats Damon." He does something selfish and everyone ends up brushing it under the rug because that's Damon. Kidnaps and almost kills Jeremy because he's hurt? That's Damon. Tortures Katherine on her death bed? That's Damon. Acts like a complete asshole to his mother as she's dying? That's Damon. Leaves his brother alone to fend for himself while a crazy psycho hunter is after him? That's Damon. But when Stefan does something selfish or what people presume to be out of character its like omg what a hypocrite.

I find him and Valerie so cute together. Every character has been their fair share of selfish this season so I'm not really angry with her for lying to Stefan.

Because as you saw with Enzo everyone has something to hide and it gets really boring. But I'll leave you to judge, there's only one thing I'm looking forward to for the rest of this season tbh.

2019-01-05 14:25:02 +0000 UTCOkidokie here we go... so this episode was all over the place. Definitely my favorite episode in the season because that last scene was so goddamn amazing. But I really disliked a lot of it, I didn't mind the flashbacks, I mean i was expecting it, that's what most shows do after a time jump. But Damon irritated the life out of me. OMG I love Delena the most in this entire world but the writers making Damon so selfish is the most annoying thing ever. Like really Damon, you were thinking of yourself again. I'm not saying Damon owes him but Stefan is in this situation because of you so the least you could do is help your brother and take him out of this misery. I find that a bit out of place for Damon because we have seen him do a lot of things for his brother. And even though I don't really like Stefan I still love everything he does for his brother. But I appreciate your opinion tbh I don't feel anyway about it because to some extent I agree.

I am tired of the writers of this show constantly trying to portray Stefan as good and Damon as bad when there is so much evidence to the contrary. If the fans of the show still see it that way they just haven't been paying attention. They never seem to portray the brothers as equal. It always seems like we have to pick sides in every situation. It was probably a tactic of the writers so people would pick sides and argue about it on social media and keep the show "relevant. Also in this episode when Damon says "when I get Elena back, I will be there for Stefan." Really, we are six and a half seasons in and there still trying to say Damon can't be good without Elena holding his hand. I think that does a real disservice to Damon's character growth. They never seem to portray the brothers as equals in there sins and victories. One is always elevated over the other. Juli, I watch your videos for your honest opinions, not because I always agree with you. Keep being you, always.

Juli I'm glad you always give us your raw reactions. Sometimes I don't agree with the things you say but I still appreciate and LOVE to hear your reviews.
