TVD 7x16 REACTION (Early Access)

Hi Juli! I totally agree with your comments on the writers continuing on with the overused storyline of Stefan always being perceived as the "good brother" despite his dark actions and Damon being perceived as selfish and the "bad brother" when he makes decisions that have had the same impact as Stefan in the past. Both brothers are EQUALLY flawed in different ways. Both brothers have made selfish decisions. Both brothers have had their "bad" and "good" moments. After seven seasons, the writers needed to come to terms with exemplifying that fact instead of labeling them as the "good" and "bad" brother. I think that's what frustrated me the most watching this season and why I felt super disconnected from the characters for a long time. I always say in any show that time jumps can be a huge problem and this season proved my point well. The flashbacks didn't add much value, and for me, only strengthened the disconnect I felt for the characters instead of what I perceived the writers' goal to be in helping the viewer understand them more. Some shows do time jumps better than others. In this case, I believe Season 7 was a representation of the writers running out of good storyline ideas and focusing on trying to bring in so many new characters for new story arcs and in the process, losing sight of staying true to the characters they had. Now I'm not saying Season 7 altogether is awful because it isn't. There are some good aspects of the season such as Damon and Bonnie's friendship, Caroline's relationship with being a mother for her kids, and focusing on the brothers' relationship. But some of the plot points just didn't stick for me or feel as powerful as the earlier seasons. I agree with you when Nina left as well as the originals to do their own show, they took a good chunk of what kept the show so amazing with them. But I do agree with you that Season 7 isn't entirely bad, just flawed when it comes to the writers' room. The actors do the best with what they're given and the main cast does an amazing job. I do wish (like you) that the season would stop bringing up Delena so much since they don't need to touch our ship since they've already done enough. Again, I'm with you Juli. I may not agree with everything you say, but that's the beauty of reactions and everyone having their own perspective and opinion while experiencing a show. And you are more than entitled to have your own so keep doing you. Like you, I relate more to Damon and see his character's complexity so never feel as though you have to apologize for that. Looking forward to more reactions!

I'm still annoyed at this, especially Nora. Mary Louise wasn't a very developed character, but I feel like Nora was getting there, and so them just throwing her away was really frustrating to me. Also, that makes TVD 4/4 dead gay characters, but who's counting..

Mary Louise were disposal characters so I wasn't shocked when they died. I mean their importance went away after Lily died.

I think I was expecting this to happen. But Aiden's death was out of nowhere 💔

actually this episode aired after they killed off lexa on the 100. That being said, you took it a lot better than I expected considering after watching you react to aiden's death on the originals, I expected you to have a full-on ragestrom
