2019-01-22 23:04:16 +0000 UTCI also really liked season 4, then just tolerated season 5, and then after that I sort of gave up (made it through season 6 and then quit without watching the last season). The further the show drifted away from the books, the less invested I felt.

2019-01-21 16:45:17 +0000 UTCThe Vampire Diaries came out a year after True Blood so it’s not the time period of the show that makes it so particular. There’s a genre called Southern Gothic which is very melodramatic with elements of horror. The introduction sort of encapsulates how extra everything is. Also the show is based off a series of books and the grandmother was reading the first one st the dinner table in that scene. And yes, they went with rattlesnake fangs so they could be different from other vampire shows. :) I can’t wait for you to see the rest in a few months. It’s so sexy, crazy, and extra. :)

2019-01-21 15:34:49 +0000 UTCThanks so much for reacting to this! There's a definite camp factor to True Blood, but I think the cheesiness is part of its appeal. Agree with you about the fangs though, I never liked the fangs on this show. For me, the selling point of the show is the characters. As the episodes play out, you really come to love Sookie, Bill, Tara, Sam, Lafayette, etc. Anna Paquin (Sookie) and Stephen Moyer (Bill) met on the show and are now married. She's bisexual, but apparently non-practicing. And Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafeyette, died in 2017 of alcohol withdrawal. So tragic, he was one of the best on this show. Love Lafayette! Thanks so much for the reaction! I was really curious to get your take on the show. True Blood was great the first 3 seasons. After that it fell off, but the first 3 seasons make a great binge watch, even if you just binge it privately lol. Excited for Hill House and Shameless this week! Thanks Juli! :)
