I am so glad you agree with Ian not going with Mickey in the end. He did what was right for himself. Being on the run would be awful for his Bipolar. There'd already be a lot of paranoia in the sense that they'd both be fugitives, and that's likely to set his meds off balance and fuck him up. Plus, he has a whole life! A job, a family. He loves Mickey, of course he does. And I truly believe he wanted to go with him and had planned to. But it's not that simple. Where would he get meds? What if the meds they somehow managed to get went off balance and he needed a new dosage, how would they figure out the correct one? They wouldn't be able to use his medical chart because it'd lead the police to them. It's not only better for Ian and his illness, but it's also better for Mickey because if Ian went manic, that could screw things up, or if he went into a depressive episode when they needed to run, that could also screw things up. They both wanted him to go, but at the end of the day, not going was definitely the best choice for them both. So many people get mad at Ian for not going, but how would it work? Also, Mickey didn't go to Prison for Ian, he went because he decided torture and murder was a good idea. Yes, he did that because Sammi was a bitch and got Ian arrested, but it was still his choice to do that, and I don't think it's fair for people to say Ian should be grateful for that. (Though he probably is, but that doesn't mean he's gonna throw away his entire life AND his healthy mental state...)
