Also, if you've told me on season 1 or 2 or 3, that by the end of Dan's life I will cry for him, I wouldn't have believe you! But I think that just speaks about how good the actor was trough out the entire show! 👏👏👏

2021-09-24 01:57:03 +0000 UTC9x11 is my all-time favorite episode, based solely on the Scott family material we got, not that there weren’t other storylines in it I liked, but the Naley/ Dan/Scott family stuff stole the show for me!!! I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch this episode!!! The Naley reunion scene is 💯 PERFECT in every way, it was everything I wanted and needed it to be!!! James and Joy knocked it out of the park, it’s my all time favorite Naley scene as well!!! They couldn’t have written a better way for Dan’s character to be written off, it was fantastic!!! The hospital scene with Joy, Jackson, and Paul makes me SOB everytime, same with the Nate/Dan rivercourt scene!! For once let’s just play to play, ugh, that’s all Nathan ever wanted from Dan is for everything not to be a competition!!! Loved your reaction, it brought me back to how I felt when I watched it live, I was feeling all the same emotions you had right along with you all over again!! Can’t wait for you to react to the rest of the series, yet at the same time I don’t want your OTH reactions to end!!

I was crying my eyes out. This episode was so beautifully written. Such a tragically, beautiful story for a character like this. Rest Easy Dan Scott <3

Gosh, other than being the most perfect couple, Naley truly is my comfort ship and the way Haley refused to let Nathan go healed my soul in a way.

Take someone at the most hated and to see them come back up and make us care for that person or character again. We see it with celebrities with people like Britney Spears.. they loved tearing her down when she was dealing with mental illness and then eventually enjoyed bringing her back up to beloved once again. The story of Dan Scott is so iconic because of Paul Johansson’s incredible acting. He deserves so much credit. Amazing. And an incredible person from what I hear from everyone who talks about him. Dan Scott’s redemption gave me the strength to move forward with my own abusive father who was very much like Dan. I didn’t forgive his unforgivable actions, but my dad changed enough for us to have a new and healthy relationship like what nathan and Dan could have had if he had lived.

2021-09-15 15:55:10 +0000 UTCDan Scott in my opinion is the best character on this show. Not my favorite but in my opinion by far the best. His character development is unreal. He wasn’t a typical good or bad guy of this show, they really made sure his character have a lot of depth and to do that with a parent on a teen show and still be a great character is really hard to do. They started setting his character up for this development at the beginning of the series when they introduced him as a privileged narcissistic man who tried to live out his dreams through one of his sons and completely acted like the other didn’t exist because he wanted a good image. Which I think is what setup his development because from then on he kinda just went down spiral. He wanted to be perceived like he had everything and his life was perfect without actually caring about the people around him. He then gets a hard lesson of what it actually means to work for peoples respect and in the end it doesn’t turn out how he wants it. But in the very end of his life he gets exactly what he wanted from life his family, but it cost him his life and like everyone says the day Keith died he died. Which is why I love the ending of how they both disappeared in the hallway it was a perfect ending to his character. And he was always jealous of Keith and in the end ended up being like the man Keith was without having to get there selfishly. He was a fantastic character and I’m glad we got to know a character like him. RIP Dan Scott.

I remember around season 2 I started to think that he could never be redeemed in my eyes, THEN HE KILLED KEITH and I was certain about it. Somehow he came around. I appreciate how well the writers paced this storyline. I was thinking this the other day, Dan killed keith in season 3 and he only first had his first real conversation about it with deb in season 6, AND we're only finally getting his explanation in season 9. The writers really took their time and that's what I admire about this show! I know If Keith had a choice he would've forgiven him for seeing what he did and went through afterward. HOWEVER, this whole Dan making it into heaven thing is WILD 😂😂 The plus one scene is adorable but I would've never guessed that Dan Scott would make it into Heaven.

I hate it when people call it his redemption arc bc he never really got redeemed. Nobody forgave him. Nathan acknowledged that he still loves Dan, but he never forgave him for Keith's death. Just Keith forgave him and only bc he is dead so ... I just think that Dan is such a complex, well-written character who you can hate and love with equal measure. He did some really heinous, unforgivable things, but he also did some heroic things. I could never imagine a better death for Dan than dying protecting Nathan. That was the only way Dan Scott could go out.

Just to refresh your memory cuz they make passed season references

2021-09-15 06:23:28 +0000 UTCi cried with you throughout the entire episode😭 some of my favorite scenes of the whole series: “hi hales” NALEY IS PERFECT!!! and dan telling nathan they aren’t keeping score ugh it was so emotional. when you said “i hate dan, but i love dan” i think that’s what a lot of oth fans think lol. i love what you said about how the oth writers handle their characters because they did not push a redemption arc for dan in our faces. it’s up to the viewer to decide what to feel about him. some hate him and will never feel sorry for him, while others forgave him and sympathize with his character. that’s why dan is one of my fav characters, there’s conflicting feelings towards him, but in the end i don’t hate him. paul played dan so well; he’s just amazing. those scenes with haley too🥺🥺 i love that keith showed up in the end, it was a perfect ending for dan’s story

Probably gonna piss someone off but hated the Keith forgiving him, plus one thing. I rather Dan just died and leave up to that. Sorry not sorry.

When this episode originally aired I remember crying which was something I didn't expect because I remember hating Dan so much (specifically in Seasons 1-4) for the way he treated some people but specifically Nathan, Lucas, and Keith. But from Seasons 5 through Season 9 we've seen Dan slowly have a redemption arc. He clearly wasn't forgiven overnight but ultimately he died risking his life to save Nathan. I obviously don't completely forgive Dan because at the end of the day he did still kill Keith but at the same time I don't hate him either which is a kudos to Paul Johansson's portrayal of Dan Scott. Naley's reunion this episode also made me cry on top of Dan's death happening in this episode. Wish we would've gotten more Naley this final season.
