Since the beginning, I couldn't wait until you reached episode 8 and that hilltop scene in particular. When I saw throughout the series how much you loved Anne and Ann, I was hoping you'd react the way you did. (I thought the finale was really satisfying, and you don't always get that feeling with a finale) I think I rewatched your reaction about four times it was so good. :)
Like you, I am not a big fan of period pieces,(unless the story is amazing like this series) I don't mind later years like 1920's and over, but before that, usually nope. When I had heard Sally Wainwright was creating/writing a new series, I was immediately was on board without knowing anything about it. She has written some really good Brit series I enjoy like Happy Valley(amazing!! it's on NetflixI watched it about 6 times, and also she wrote Last Tango in Halifax which is good too) And because I was blown away by Suranne Jones' performance as Anne Lister(she better win an award or two!! I think she was best in episode 5,she had tons of emotional stuff in that), I had to find more things she was in to watch. I recommend Doctor Foster on Netflix. Only two seasons I've only seen the first but whoa is she great in that. And another series called Scott and Bailey that I started watching where she plays a detective and is partnered with another lady who's older. It's on Hulu and also Amazon Prime. Here's a synopsis I found: "Two female detectives, one motherly, the other emotionally immature, have varying levels of success applying their eccentric outlooks on life to their police cases and private lives." I am enjoying it so far.
I know you mentioned how good you thought she is playing Anne and couldn't see anyone else playing it and I totally agree. She really just embodies and embraces this role so well. I also have to give kudos to the actress who plays Ann Walker, her name is Sophie Rundle. There is such a warmth and vulnability she brings to this shy person who has a hard time believing in herself. As I watched her performance, sometimes you just wanted to shake her and say, oh stop it and just be strong for a change. All the indecisiveness, crying, etc. But I can't be mad at her, it wasn't all her fault, she didn't have the supportive family who cared much about her that she needed. Some were just caring about her money. And she did seem to have mental health issues. But I love her portrayal of sweet Ann.
I think Season 2 will be a ways away, but I can't wait to see what the writer has in store for us.
I while back, I actually found a pretty good article with the writer/creator and she talks about what she may want to cover in season 2. So I will put the link below if you want to check it out. Thanks for doing the reactions, I loved watching! One question- what made you happier?...The wedding on The Fosters or that hilltop scene in Gentleman Jack? :)

Juli thank you so much for reacting to Gentleman Jack! I'm SO happy that you actually really loved the show. It's been a while since i saw the show myself, I had almost forgotten how heart wrenchingly angsty the last three episodes are lol

I loved all of your reactions to this show and I'm glad you reacted to it cause I just binged the season at the beginning of this month and it's so good and not enough people know about it tbh!
Can't wait for your reactions to s2 whenever that might come out :)
