She was harming herself so her parents tried taking her to different therapists but it wasn´t helping so they committed her. Seems like it helped because she didn´t really self harm anymore. The depression might´ve come from or have been hightened by her body dismorphia but she was depressed and her mom got her help. Sure they show it from Jules´point but she was young and it seemed scary to her but her mom kinda did the right thing

I had this heavy sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach every time Jules was on-screen with Nate lurking somewhere. And huge props to not only the actor that played Jules as a kid for their amazing talent but also to the casting department who continue to get these child actors who look SO MUCH like their older roles
