I am not a big Penelope Cruz’s fan. However I did like her performance on this film. It most be hard to match how crazy good Johnny is as Jack and I think she did a good job. Can’t wait to read your comment on the final film and also on the Star Wars movie reaction. See you there my friend 🥰

It's probably my least favorite of the five Pirates of the Caribbean movies, but it's still a lot of fun, and like always... Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbosa, and Mr. Gibbs are all hilarious and fantastic characters. I completely agree with you that I missed Will and Elizabeth throughout this movie. Aside from the three characters I mentioned above, Will is one of my favorite characters. And he is missed by most fans of this movie series too. However, in spite of missing these two, I enjoyed this movie and its added characters as well. I like both Philip and Syrena, and I like Black Beard a lot as well for the movie's villain. And while I normally don't care much for Penelope Cruz as an actress in most of her movies, I really like her character... Angelica in this movie a lot. I especially love the dynamic she brings in with Jack. She and Jack together are hilarious. I love their banter and I really like her character alone as well, as she's Black Beard's daughter, the first mate of his crew, and a woman determined to save her father's soul. As for the overall storylines... again, I love Angelica's storyline as she strives to save her father's soul and how she constantly outwits Jack time and time again. I also enjoy the lesser love story between Philip and Syrena. I agree with you that their love story isn't nearly as epic and beautiful as Will's and Elizabeth's love story. And like you, I 'm also happy that their story didn't overshadow the main storyline throughout this movie too. However, Philip and Syrena are still sweet together. And as for the ending... Philip was dying from his wounds. Syrena told him she could heal him and while all he asked from her was forgiveness, she saved his life anyway from a kiss. It isn't really explained very well, but I suspect that a kiss from a mermaid quite possibly granted him an immortal life like her, or like you suspected... maybe even turned him eventually into a merman so they could also be together forever. Barbosa and Mr. Gibbs are both hilarious and their characters can easily hold up to Jack. I love how Jack is loyal to Gibbs like Gibbs is loyal to Jack. And I love their banter back and forth. Just as I love Jack's banter with Barbosa too. Barbosa is hilarious. I love how quick he and Jack both continuously switch sides. I also love the storyline with the Spanish seeking out the Fountain of Youth, not for their own glory and eternal youth, but in order to destroy it because they believe eternal youth is blasphemy against God. I wish they would have expounded on this storyline just a little bit more. Overall... I still really enjoy this movie a lot. It's entertaining, exciting, and just a lot of fun. An I can't wait for your reaction for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, as well as Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith!! Thank you so much! Until then...
