Hey, Juli. IDK if you knew this but when they talk about Leia being unconscious and that Holdo is next in line the command, they mention Admiral Ackbar as being killed too. Admiral Ackbar is the resistance commander in The Return of the Jedi who says, "ITS A TRAP!!!" when they realize that Empire planned for their ambush on them.

I really love this movie. I think it might be the best one. Of all of them, it really benefits from multiple viewings though.
A lot of “Star Wars Fans” hate this movie very much. I really don’t understand why?
I’m not normally one to share YouTube links, but Mikey Neumann did an absolutely fantastic analysis/review type video on both the two new films. Strongly strongly strongly recommend that all, especially Juli and Heidi watch.

I really really loved this movie. Some really great messages about how a person from anywhere or with any last name can be a powerful person and make a difference. I have to admit, was ridiculously disappointed that Kylo didn't join Rey! Like actually heartbroken... Haha! When I look at him I can't help but think of Zuko from Last Airbender and I wanted that so bad! Lol!

I LOVE that Rey's parents were nobodies because I said before it came out that it'd be so cool if her parents were no one we knew 'cause why should the only powerful Force users have to be Skywalker or Kenobi? The Force is everywhere and in everything. It's silly to think no one else would be strong with the Force. But, I said, "I doubt they'd actually do that." I was so happy that they actually did it! I also thought that Snoke being dispatched without knowing his backstory was also great 'cause I was like " Dude, turns out this isn't your story. You don't matter." I laughed so loud in the theater.

When this trilogy was announced, they said this would be the end of the Skywalker Saga. So yeah, I figured most if not all of the old characters would die & pass the torch to new characters.

You asked weren't those the Jedi books? Remember Yoda said to Luke as he giggled at him when burned the tree/temple that there was nothing in there that Rey did not already possess. That little jokester. ;-) I guess she figured that Luke had given up on the Force & he wasn't coming back so he wouldn't need them.

Thank you so much for another exciting reaction for the last of the Star Wars Saga movies, until the final movie of the Saga comes out in theaters in December!!! I had a lot of fun watching this movie with you just as I've loved watching all Star Wars movies with you!
First of all... I truly appreciate and admire how much you love Carrie Fisher, and I'm truly appreciate the beautiful words you spoke about her, as well as just how emotional you felt throughout the movie whenever you saw Princess Leia onscreen, especially when the words... "In loving memory of our Princess... Carrie Fisher" appeared onscreen. I have loved Carrie Fisher since I first saw the very first Star Wars movie... Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope when I was just two years old. I love her as Princess Leia and in a number of other movies as well. She will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you again!
Now, as for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi... I really love this movie. Does it have its flaws? Yes, of course. But overall, I really love the overall storyline and the new characters that continue to become added to these movies.
I really like Rose a lot. She's cute and sweet. And I like her spunk. I also like the idea of her and Finn falling into a relationship with one another. Whether Finn actually has come to reciprocate romantic feelings for her, as she has come to feel for him... it wasn't revealed in this movie. We know that Finn likes Rey a lot and she like him, but again... we don't really know if these feelings are romantic, or simply platonic. I look forward to seeing what comes of them in the next movie. But with all this being said... I think I would rather see Finn in a romantic relationship with Rose, than with Rey. Rey is a Jedi, and therefore she shouldn't fall into a romantic relationship with anyone, especially given what happened between Anakin and Padme. And if she were to fall into a romantic relationship with anyone... I couldn't help but notice a spark between Rey and Poe in the end of the movie when he witnessed her lift the rocks with the Force to save them, then when they introduced themselves. Did you sense this too?
As for the storyline between Poe, Finn, Rose, and of course Leia... I really love it. I love how Poe keeps fighting to save as many of the Resistance fighters and his friends as possible, even against Leia's orders because he can't see the bigger picture. Leia and her friend... Vice Admiral Holdo of course have a dangerous plan. I don't really understand why Holdo didn't let Poe in on the plan, as doing so would have saved them a lot of trouble. However, I suspect maybe a part of it is because Holdo and Leia were curious to see Poe in action. They may have wanted to test his resolve and loyalty, and in spite of his rebellion against them along with Finn and Rose, both Leia and Holdo came to admire Poe for it. I loved this overall storyline between them, and Rose's plan for her and Finn to break onto the First Order's lead Star Destroyer in order to disable the tracker, while Poe remains on their own ship in order to jump to lightspeed when the time comes.
Now... I like the overall storyline between Rose and Finn as they find themselves in the Casino in search of the master code breaker. I didn't really care much about the thief they hire, especially when he betrays them. However, I love the sad story Rose tells Finn about the casino and how the rich living on that planet only become rich because they sell weapons and other resources to the First Order, and because they mistreat the poor slave boys and creatures. And I love the scenes where Rose and Finn ride on the creature along with the rest and rip apart the casino. It's just amazing and a lot of fun. And BB-8 is so cute.
Admiral Holdo's death is very sad, even though I didn't know or the longest time whether of not she was a traitor like Poe and others believed her to be. However, her moment was amazing... as we see her jump their ship to lightspeed straight through the majority of the First Order's fleet. The special effects in this moment are incredible and I really love this scene very much, making me come to like Admiral Holdo so much more than I initially did.
As for the moment when everyone is led to believe that Leia is killed after being blasted into space... At first, I was so angry that this was the plan they came up with to kill off Princess Leia, given that Carrie Fisher had died a year before this movie was released in theaters. It was terrible. However, I became pleasantly surprised when she amazingly survives this attack. As for how... as far as I can understand it, Leia uses the Force to guide herself back to their ship. Now... this movie is really the first time we really see Leia actually use the Force beyond just being able to sense what others feel, especially those closest to her like Han, Ben, Luke, and now Rey as well. And if you think back to Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, we know that her strongest ability with the Force is this ability to sense what others feel. However, in The Last Jedi, we see her actually use the Force to survive and it was strange to me at first, but after I took time to think about this scene in the movie, and watched it a few more times, I really came to love the idea, showing that Leia has also been somewhat trained in the Force more than we know and was most likely trained by Luke. It's brilliant.
Now, as for Rey's storyline with and without Ben, or Kylo Ren... First of all, I really love their storyline too, and while it's tragic and we want Ben to come back from the Dark Side to become good again, I really love the twist that he fights alongside Rey to destroy Snoke and his Red Guards, only so he can become more powerful and evil than before as he once again seeks to become the most powerful Jedi just like his Grandfather, Darth Vader wanted too. Everyone expected him to fall away from the Dark Side to join Rey, his mother, and with the Rebels. I didn't expect him to grow even darker and I love this overall storyline, especially the battle between Rey and Ben against the Red Guard. Phenomenal!
As for the reveal that Rey was born from parents who were no one special, and who even sold her into slavery... You believed this reveal to be anti-climatic. However, I disagree. I think it makes her an even stronger and amazing character. Because her being born from two parents without the Force, it shows just how strong she is. I feel that it adds to the idea that the Force isn't something that is possessed by the Jedi, but that the Force chooses those who are strong enough to wield it. Those who are potentially worthy to help bring balance to the Force and peace to the universe. Plus... this idea is also a parallel to Anakin, given that his mother didn't have the Force either, and that he had no father who helped conceive him like Anakin's mother told to Qui-Gon Jinn back in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. And I really love this parallel.
Yes... tragically Luke dies. It's so sad because now... two of our beloved characters we have loved since the original movie, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope is gone. And as we all know, Carrie Fisher has now passed on as well, leaving none of our three beloved characters alive., unless they happened to film any scenes with Carrie Fisher for the last of the Star Wars Saga. I don't know if Leia will be in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker or not. I do hope so. But back to Luke's death... just like you mentioned, just because Luke has died, it doesn't mean we won't see him again. As we know from all the rest of the movies and this one, Obi Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Anakin, and like was revealed back in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith... Qui-Gon too, those who die have the power to come back to the Jedi still alive to help guide them. I suspect Luke will most likely come back in spirit form to some degree. And I can't wait, if I am right.
As for Luke's moment of weakness when he for one brief moment considers killing Ben upon sensing the darkness inside of him... I do like this reveal for the idea that shows us that even Luke has his weak moments and that's he's not perfect. It makes him more human, as tragic as it is. However, I also hate that he has this weakness, because he's such a beloved character and we want to be able to see him only as the hero we know he can be.
I love the battle between Luke and Ben in the end. It's an epic scene and amazingly done. Like I did with Leia's supposed death scene, I cried once again the first time I saw this movie, as I do most times I watch it again and again. Also... if you look back and pay close attention to Luke's movements, you see that the salt beneath his feet doesn't get lifted and become red beneath them, proving that Luke isn't actually there in person, but only through astral projection. It also explains why Luke was able to survive the first attack on him when Kylo Ren demands they fire upon him, which you did pick up on.
And lastly... you noticed the difference in the look of Yoda, from this movie and the Prequel Trilogy movies. You are definitely right. Back in the Original Trilogy, Yoda is a puppet just like the Muppets are in the Muppets movies. And he is voiced by Frank Oz... who is also the voice actor for some of the Muppets as well such as Animal, Fozzie Bear, Miss. Piggy, and more. However, because they wanted to be able to show Yoda fight in the Prequels, they decided to make him CGI. Hence the reason why his look is different throughout these movies.
Overall... I love, love, love all of these movies, including the Spinoffs as well and I cannot wait for your reactions to them in December. I am so happy to be able to sponsor them as well. These movies are powerful, beautiful, and I can't help but cry and feel the emotions that we are meant to feel through them all. There's a reason why these movies are beloved by so, so many people, and why they're quoted in so many shows and movies. And why they will be forever remembered above all other movies. The characters and their stories told are unlike any character and story ever told. I love them. So, thank you again so much for your reactions for all of these movies! I can't wait for your reactions for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story!!! :) Until then...

Nice one Juli. Also will you be reacting to Star Wars Rogue One. It is set between Episodes 3 and 4. A very good movie and has a couple of special appearances.
