She asked him to come with & she was trying to convince him & because of that, she started to talk herself out of the possibility of going. He didn't do anything shitty to her.

2019-12-20 12:25:31 +0000 UTCI agree with Shaun here in both that Evan was caught off-guard when she 1st mentioned going away then Casey saw that he was worried & suggested he come, which he wasn't that keen on, but she was definitely pushing him, at first with gentle nudging, but then the book was definitely her pushing him to do what she wanted & for him to be more socially acceptable with his life path (which Izzy helped along with the comment about him not doing anything). They are on different paths & they can make it work if they accept that, but if not, they should break up. Since I don't have a dog in the fight, I'm not wishing for either way 'cause no matter where Casey lands on her decision, someone is gonna be heartbroken. She does have to make a decision though. If the situation was reversed though, would you be as open to Evan cozying up to Casey if she was dating Izzy? I think you might be telling him to back off and wouldn't see him as sweet at all. Like I said, my stance is not towards either because they both seem very sweet. I just think that Casey can't string them both along. I know she loves them both, but neither of them, I think, wants to share her. She has to let one of them go. Hopefully salvage a friendship out of it, but I don't hold high hopes of that.

2019-12-06 21:27:01 +0000 UTCI disagree with the Evan/Casey situation. At least partially. First of all yes it's great if Casey wants to go to college and try to get the scholarship and things. But the book felt kinda pushy to me. At least a little bit. - First she says that he's not doing anything, which is a tiny bit insulting. I mean sure it's not the most high class job but it's a job. Maybe he could try to get a job in (LA?), maybe even at a Dominos(was that the place?) if he does well there and gets a recommendation or something, to be near her but she dismisses it like oh it's nothing. - He says he has a job and is figuring out life. This doesn't mean he is figuring out what college education he wants. Could just mean in general in life. It could also be partially a response to mitigate feeling like he's worth less because he doesn't have all these college aspirations. Even you keep saying how he's not doing anything or how he doesn't have any aspirations. (You also say it's fine if he is ok with his life as is at the moment, but he shouldn't try to keep her 'down' with him. That's a different issue though, I'm just arguing that she felt a bit pushy this episode, I am not saying she shouldn't have scholarship aspirations. That's great to have, and either they make it work somehow or they break up. That's life.) - Later she gives him the book. This isn't because "oh he mentioned figuring out life. This book could be a nice thing to give him" it's because she wants him to go to college so he can be with her. She then mentions some career choices and he feels this is pushy. If he has mentioned not 'being a college guy' before then I can see it more as being a nice thing but I would assume he has. - Even if he hadn't mentioned it before he then says he isn't a college guy. He wasn't even a high school guy. Higher education just isn't something he feels fit for/wants now. She then says "You could be". Again this feels like it is because She wants him to go with her, or to have the same experience (going to college) not because "I'm helping figuring things out" TL;DR: - It's great that Casey wants to get the scholarship and go to college. - Evan should be supportive, either they make it work or it leads to a break-up. But I kinda understand how he responded at first because he might be worried about being left behind. He should still be supportive, maybe apologize and explain why he reacted how he did. - The book and stuff did feel pushy to me. It felt like she was pushing him to go to college with her so they could be together. He clearly doesn't want a college education, but she wants him to. - Maybe it hit a bit close to home? I would support my SO if they wanted to go to college etc. But I have a 'normal/low-level' job and am trying to figure out my life too. Who I am, what I want. I've had people go "You're young. You need to go to college. You could do x, y, z) and honestly it does feel pushy and insulting. I already kinda feel like less worth because of not having a "higher level" job or a college education. But college isn't for me for reasons I won't go into. I would still support my SO if they wanted to obviously. But it feels like people are going "hey, change. Change. What you're doing is bad/not good enough. One last line in this crazy long wall of text(SORRY! ): I don't think she had bad intent with the book. Just that she wants him to go to college with her (or change). And I think he should support her wanting to go.
