I highly suspect that the man who was convicted of rape didn't actually commit rape, but had a consensual affair with a handmaid. I'm sure under this new government, rape is any kind of sex that is not sanctioned by the state.

2019-12-28 12:14:15 +0000 UTCinteresting side fact: at women‘s march or other protestd for womens rights all over the world people dressed up in handmaids costumes. it’s become a cultural phenomenon bc the story feels so close to reality (and in some countries it sadly is happening) and it serves as a scary reminder to fight for equality and to never ever let something like this happen.

I have to admit, a lot of those things fly over my head. My friend usually has to point them out. Or people on Reddit

Lots of familiar faces (at least for me.) ( yvonne strahovski from Chuck , i love her and her acting shes fucking amazing in this)

The handmaids are named by their commander’s first name so Of(first name), commander Waterford’s name is Fred therefore June is Offred. They call the this new version of the US Gilead & it was formed by a radical religious group that definitely twists the Bible to fit their agenda. Can’t wait for more reactions!
