I love Quentin he is one fo my favorites, because you get this character that is supposed to be this hero but it also probably one fo the most flawed characters, but you can also see why he is the "hero", I love Quentin I think most of the time people hate on him just because he is well... human, most heroes, and main characters now days in stories and tv shows, are not portrayed as human and flawed as they portrayed Quentin

2020-01-22 06:32:46 +0000 UTCMy opinion of Quentin completely changed by the end of S1. The first few episodes I could not stand him, and almost stopped watching because I couldn’t stomach the fact that he was supposed to be the “hero” of the story. But I came to realize it wasn’t that simple and he was supposed to be a deeply flawed person who wasn’t necessarily the shining male protagonist and moral compass that most stories try to force feed me. I mean he is technically the “main character” since we are first introduced to this world of magic through his eyes, and he gets the most focus, at least in S1, but Julia’s story is just as important and Alice, Penny, Eliot, and Margo roles are also very important, and even Katy to a lesser extent, and as the story goes on it does a better job at balancing focus on all the main characters and giving them all important parts to play. In S2 it’s impossible to even say anymore who is the most important character, but I don’t think anyone could say Quentin with confidence.

Yea maybe he's a bit broody/depressed but like in this episode he find out his dad has cancer and you seem annoyed that he was sad, "everything is about quintin" and wanting to do anything to help him is very normal and expected I think. It's basically a trope and I can think of other shows where the viewer is very sympathethic towards the character doing this. I'm not saying quintin isn't annoying at times, or generally depressed but you have this negative view of him so naturally that means you get annoyed at the slightest thing that can be seen negatively more than someoe who is indifferent to him or even likes him. I agree other characters are more interesting though, and I love Julia

2020-01-10 20:33:30 +0000 UTCI think Quintin is, hands down, the least interesting character of the show, especially in s1. But overtime you learn to love him. The other story lines are vastly more entertaining. Julia is definitely my favorite.
