August Rush MOVIE REACTION August Rush MOVIE REACTION

Comments

Keri Russell is from Felicity! Hahaha. And yes, they made a big deal when she cut her hair in the second season because the show lost a big part of the audience after that so people blame that event for many networks adding in the actor's contracts that they can't have big hair changes without notifying the producers and given an okay by them. I think contracts are not like that anymore but they were for a while lol. And Keri was also in The Americans, which was an AMAZING show! Very different from everything else she had done. The dad, Louis was played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who played Henry VIII in The Tudors and Dracula in the Dracula show where Katie McGrath played Lucy Westenra. Evan/August is from The Good Doctor yes, but also from Bates Motel where he played Norman Bates and the guy who played the social worker was Terrence Howard who is in Empire. I think everyone was a familiar face here.

I love this movie even though I only saw it once several years ago. I usually love movies centered around music especially when there is a love story involved. I think this movie was really well done and I really like all of the lead actors in it. Keri Russell plays Lyla and you must have recognized her from Felicity. I watched that show way back in the day, but I don’t remember much from it. Much more recently Keri has stared in the show The Americans, which is about Russian spies living in America in the 80’s pretending to be normal Americans. She’s awesome in that and it’s great show but really dark and violent so I don’t know if you’d like it. Anyways I was trying to watch your reaction for this movie but my Bluetooth headphones died and I’m on my lunch break at work, so I’ll have to watch the rest later. But 25 minutes in and this movie was already making me tear up 😥

I knew this movie would make you cry, even if it was just a little. Thank you so much for a great reaction for such a beautiful movie that I deeply love!!! I really loved watching this. And I'm so happy that you loved this movie so much too. :) First... I do agree with you that it would have been wonderful if this movie was just slightly longer so that we could have seen Evan, Lyla, and Louis reunited... enough to see introductions made, to see Lyla interact with her son like we got between Evan and Louis, to see Lyla telling Louis that Evan is their son, and perhaps even to see Luis asking Lyla to marry him, etc... Something a little more than what we see in the movie. However, with that being said... the emotional impact that we are meant to feel in an ending such as it is, is most definitely felt. I cry throughout this ending every time I watch it. It's just so, so beautiful and the music... stunning. And you can see on Evan's Lyla's, and on Louis' faces when they're looking at one another, that words aren't needed to be spoken in this beautiful and heartfelt moment. You can see in their eyes, in their smiles, and through the music being played around them, that they all just know they are a family. I love it! As for the characters... I love each of the characters, especially Evan/August, Louis, and Lyla, as well as Wizard played by the great Robin Williams whom I deeply miss, Richard Jeffries played by Terrance Howard, Reverend James, Hope, and the Dean at Julliard. I love actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers, especially in his role as Louis Connolly. He's a brilliant actor, extremely handsome, and that accent of his... gorgeous!!! And my favorite moment in August Rush aside from the entire ending, is when Louis and Evan meet in the park and plays one another's guitars together. Beautiful and again... I cry during this scene every time. I love the chemistry between Louis and Evan in this scene. And I love that while they don't know one another, and Louis has no idea he has a son, these two feel a deep connection to one another through their music. Beautiful. And I love Louis' chemistry with Lyla too. Their romance and love story is quite beautiful, even though they aren't together much throughout the movie. However, they fight to find one another again. Phenomenal! :) As for the overall storyline... I love Evan's drive to play music so that his parents will hear is his rhapsody he comes to write over time and hears within his head and so that they will find him. I absolutely love how this movie is about a boy who is a musical prodigy, yet who plays for his parents just as they play for him and for each other. It's such a beautiful story. And it's tragic too, as we learn that Lyla lost her son because her father had lied to her about him dying in her accident. Also... while Robin Williams' character Wizard is a bad man, who as you said, you can tell he went through a similar tragic story as Evan has, Robin Williams plays Wizard brilliantly. Like I said above, I miss him terribly in this world. His life is so sad, while he made everyone happy through his movies. He's definitely one of my favorite actors as well. And lastly... the music throughout this movie is absolutely beautiful and so powerful. In case you were wondering... Freddie Highmore, who plays Evan/August actually learned how to play the guitar like he does throughout this movie, so it actually is him playing, just as it's really Jonathan Rhys Meyers playing his guitar throughout the movie as well. I love it!! :) Thank you again, so much for this amazing movie reaction, Juli!! I truly appreciate it, and I can't wait for your reactions for my next movie requests too, and many more!! So until next time...
