2020-03-13 01:21:39 +0000 UTCI think Lucy and Renee’s acting is good, for the most part, but with a lot of the side characters...not so much. But I find the bad acting really amusing in this show. Like some of Draco’s facial expressions for example were so ridiculous they just tickled me. 😆

I'm so happy you enjoyed the first episode :D As Edwin pointed out Xena first appeared on the show Hercules, in the three episode arc there Xena goes from being a ruthless warlord to seeing the error of her ways and choosing to become a better person and put her war days behind her. Rumour has it that Xena was supposed to be killed off, but the writers and producers liked the character so much they let her live, and after seeing the audiences reaction to her character they created Xena: Warrior Princess a spin-off of the Hercules Series, that would come to surpass the original show in both popularity and gayness lol! Lucy Lawless as you said plays Xena, and Renee O'Connor plays Gabrielle. When we see Xena here in the first episode, it's supposed to not be too long since she changed her way, but as you'll see it's not easy becoming a hero after having been a warlord for about a decade. So the series is in many ways a story about redemption. The show is silly and sometimes really cliche, but Lucy and Renee play their characters with so much heart and humor, I love it for its' charm and crazy antics hahaha.

But yeah, Xena's character actually started off as a villain in a 3 episode arc of the show Hercules, during which she kinda changed. She was so popular with fans that they created her own spinoff show, which is of course what you are watching! :-) And then this show ended up doing even better than Hercules, which was popular on its own... kinda crazy huh?? They have a few crossover episodes throughout both shows here and there too.
