I love what Mouth and Gigi did for Jimmy's mom and I hate Dan more because I feel like Karen and Mrs Edwards could have been friends and gone through their grief together. Lucas and Jimmy grew up together and it would make sense for both of their single mothers to have known each other and been supportive of each other over the years, but if they were ever friends Dan ruined that because Karen thought Jimmy killed Keith. Brooke really is adorable.

He is sick and he is carrying so much hate and regret with himself that he makes all the wrong choices, choices that now haunt him (rightfully so). As for Karen, I don't necessarily think the writers did Karen dirty in a sense, because as you said as the situation unfolded it was necessary that Karen didn't believe Lucas's theory about Dan. But I don't think that made Karen stupid or not empathetic. She did think about it and she did try to "help" him. We just have to consider how traumatic and lifechanging Keith's death was for her. She was never the same afterwards. Plus she was pregnant with Keith's child at that time. And Dan did everything in his power to convince her that he's trying to change. If she were to believe for one second what Lucas was saying were true, imagine what that would mean for her: that means the man she's sharing dinner with, the man that she was kissing a few hrs ago, the father of her son killed his own brother, the one person she always loved, the father of her unborn daughter. Imagine how devastating even the thought of that must be for her. Ofc she wouldn't want to believe it, plus he has no proof, so it's way easier for her to believe that Jimmy did it. Lucas on the other hand has no positive feelings towards Dan, never had one positive interaction with him, didn't love him once upon a time, but has been plagued by thoughts of this day and visions of Keith wanting him to "open his eyes". He has a different emotional connection towards the truth. For him the truth is more important than how this might affect his life. For Karen the truth would break her. Be prepared for the wild ride that is the last 2 episodes of season 4 :)

I think that's one of the biggest things missing this season is Karen's relationship with Lucas. It's shifted so much and it makes me sad to rewatch it. I don't think they could have written it any other way though. I think they wanted it to be really really hard for Lucas and having his mom not be on his side....that's the easiest way to make it hard for him :( Poor thing ;_; can't wait to finish the season with you!!! I watched this when it aired and I for the life of me CANNOT REMEMBER HOW EVERYTHING RESOLVES ITSELF like I genuinely cannot remember it's been so long lol

Using initials and talking about little details of couples or friendships. Juli wants to be surprised and not expect anything, so please keep in mind cuz we've been good with no spoiling!!! You can say "I can't wait for season 5 and how crazy it is ............... and so on" but don't say "I can't wait for you to see this character and this character friendship or relationship or feelings towards this or this character acting like this or that" Its not a big spoiler but its expected from her to seeing it or looses a little shock factor because someone hinted at it. just keep in mind please

Also maybe her mind didn’t wanna go there: that the man she just kissed, the father of her son murdered the love of her life, the father of her daughter.

2020-05-28 13:44:50 +0000 UTCAs for Karen not believing him, yes Dan was a bad guy to her and everyone, but there is a difference between being a deadbeat dick and a killer who shot his own brother. It is easy to see why Karen doesn't believe her son who has had no shortage of trauma since junior year alone. Honestly, if this was a real situation, I would've had talked to Lucas about therapy months ago! Like his car accident, watching his brother crash a car into a wall, the shooting, watching Peyton almost bleed to death, his uncle's death, fighting off a stalker/psycho and all with being a young adult. Lol, trust, we would be at least talking about talking to someone months before.

2020-05-28 13:23:02 +0000 UTCYea I agree, and I think in terms of Dan's journey I think it is important to remember that, initially, he killed his brother because he thought Keith lit his ass on fire lol. Not making excuses for him, trust me not a fan of his (though over time...). While he has had time to confess and he should have done so, I think there is a difference between just him shooting Keith just to take his life and him shooting him in justice for what he went through (which is what he thought was right at the time). Also talking about Dan's redemption being treated with mixed feelings by the fans, I am all for redemption and rehabilitation for people who have committed violent crimes. But that has to start with admittance of guilt to yourself and to the authorities, also most people begin the process of rehabilitation in prison.

2020-05-28 13:18:49 +0000 UTCregarding Dan’s journey (which people have very mixed feelings about): I think he is a very interesting character with deep flaws. I also think killing Keith changed something fundamentally in him. In his messed up ways he has been “trying to make it right”. Sure, until he owns up to this there is no chance for redemption for him and even if he confesses that doesn’t mean he can ever be fully redeemed. He will always be a murderer, he can never change that. But I truly think that before this happened he just felt hatred for so many things and people and he enjoyed mistreating others a lot. And now after this hate has turned into guilt. He wants to go back and change it, which he can’t. That’s why he’s clinging towards Karen bc in his mind after he left Karen that’s when it started, that’s when it all went wrong. I don’t even think he’s trying to manipulate Karen on purpose, he just wants to “move on” and erase what he did. Now here in walks Lucas aiming to “destroy that” and his first line of defense is going back to manipulation.

2020-05-28 11:28:22 +0000 UTCThis was a great reaction to a great episode. I have no words to express how much I hated Karen siding with Dan over her own son. She didn’t even try to understand him or even entertain the idea that Dan might have really killed Keith. I like how at the end she said that something just didn’t feel right but it doesn’t change how much I hated how she spent the entire episode talking and chatting to with him after what Lucas said. It just rubbed me the wrong way, this is your son, the single most important person in your life and you’re choosing to believe in the man that left you pregnant at 17 and then abandoned you and then spent the entire run of the series making your life, Lucas' life, Keith's life, and Deb and Nathan's lives a living nightmare. I get that it’s too horrible for her to believe in this but I also hate how quickly she dismisses it without a second thought. And I loved your analysis on Dan. He’s a true sociopath, and not even his feelings for Karen ring as true. He only cares about himself and how Karen makes HIM feel about HIMSELF. If he truly felt remorse than he would turn himself in and give everyone peace of mind about what happened to Keith that day. I love watching Nathan and Haley fight for each other’s dreams. I love that she went to Whitey to see what he could do for him and I like that Whitey incentives him to fight back. When somebody tells you, you can’t do something you fight like hell to prove them wrong and I love how poetic this show gets 75% of its time!! Nathan’s speech to principal Turner was also great and I love that he got her valediction speech back for her. The Jimmy yearbook scene was amazing and super emotional when they took it to his his mom. This show is so incredible, they just never miss a beat. It’s easily the best teen show I’ve ever watched with the best character development. One Tree Hill isn’t about the sexiness and outlandish storylines. It’s about the characters journey. And it’s not even just about the core 5: Lucas, Nathan, Peyton, Brooke and Haley or the secondaries like Mouth, Skills, Rachel... etc. Even a character like Jimmy is still mentioned and everything that happened to him has affected everyone’s lives and we are still dealing with it a season later. It set a whole chain of events into motion and changed the show completely. It never became a dropped storyline that no one remembers or talks about. I love Mouth but I agree on your assessment on his character, he always feels like he’s pinning after every girl he’s ever dated or looked at him; Gigi, Shelley, Rachel, he’d probably still be hung up on Erica Marsh if she showed up out of the blue lol. But I adore Mouth, I’m not a fan of how he handled the Shelley thing either but I’m always rooting for his happiness. Your predictions about the couples is also really spot on!!! You have really good instincts about them. Naley are at a stage where they can handle all of their obstacles and hurdles as a unit. And I think that the fact that we’ve spent 4 seasons watching them grow together as individuals and as a couple shows that. Also since they’re married and expecting a child. It really cements them as a forever kind of couple. They’re the moral pairing of the show, and they make all the other couples believe that love can last forever. Leyton as I’ve said before are more of a star-crossed kind of pairing, they're a little more tortured and broken ( Peyton a little more so than Lucas ) they’re more about the drama and the longing and yearning for each other. They’re more tumultuous with their car crashes, comas, psycho stalkers, shootings, breakups-makups and love triangles but you feel like at the end the day they’ll find each other again. And will they breakup again and then find each other again? You’re gonna have to find out lol. Anyway, I can’t wait to see you react to the final two episodes of the season. It’ll be the end of an era with Tree Hill High days behind us. And the season finale is one of my absolute favorite episodes. EDIT: Oh and I also agreed 100% that Peyton would drive to the end of the earths to find Abby and bring her back to confess!! I was cheering when you said that because that is totally what she’d do for Lucas.

She carved out a life for herself and now Keith is dead and it’s all different while she’s also pregnant and Dan (at least from her pov) is just trying his best .. and the way Lucas told her the story .. no wonder she doesn’t know how to react .. I feel for Lucas in that moment though bc he knows the truth and he just wants Dan to stay tf away ... I don’t think that’s too much to ask bc lbr if your father shot his brother, the man that raised you .. you would freak out and be irrational too ..

2020-05-28 08:52:06 +0000 UTC„why is every episode of one tree hill so good?“ - my new favorite Juli quote 🙌 honestly I think teen dramas nowadays are so caught up in being „edgy“ and give you something to talk about instead of just following the journeys of their characters. One Tree Hill has just consistently built on the development of its characters and made them the focus of the show - not stemy sex scenes or big weird mystery puzzles and murder. Ofc OTH has that too but it’s never been the main focus. Even now you can see this is not about proving that Dan killed Keith, it’s about the emotions of the people finding that out. We don’t need to see Nathan’s abs every ten seconds to know that he’s hot - he’s attractive by being loyal, having a sexy laugh, being confident. And that’s why One Tree Hill is special - it has never shifted its focus away from the characters and their individual journeys and always stayed true to them instead of trying to be “teenager material”.

The ending was crazy- I never expected Lucas to actually shoot, but now he knows Dan killed Keith & he felt he had to do something since nobody would believe him. I thought Karen should really listen to Lucas and at least try to understand him, but that was huge news he dropped on her, which she did not want to believe at all. It was so sweet what Mouth and GiGi did for Jimmy’s mom. Having people sign the yearbook, then Mouth giving it to her was a really heartwarming moment. I’m so happy with Brooke & Peyton’s friendship now!! I also loved your comment about Brooke’s (Sophia Bush’s) voice- I feel the same way lol! Naley is just so amazing! Nathan talking to principle Turner about Haley’s speech is such a great moment! Super excited for you to finish the season tomorrow- the episodes are fantastic (as always)!!

2020-05-28 06:54:14 +0000 UTC"why is every oth episode so good?" because honestly OTH writers know how write a show lmfao I love alot of cw shows and in my opinion during oth series timeline 2003-2013, that was cw's peak. Shows were written more about each characters storyline instead of having one main or two main, all characters written amazingly where they have so many storylines, so many plot twists, flaws, development etc. For me cw at that time was more focus on impact of the situations throughout series and good writing instead giving drama that doesn't make sense like currently in CW shows now. OTH writing makes the whole series connect, there's never a moment where it seems out of character or out of line or out of the story. All of actions and development makes sense.
