Right?! I mean, it's Amy. She DEFINITELY would've made sure to have this conversation before getting married. Especially with how important it was to her this episode. It's a conversation most couples have before marriage, and especially someone like Amy who plans everything and all that. She would've made sure they sat down and had that conversation long before they got married. Like, before the proposal even! Probably soon after they moved in together, maybe even before they did... Plus, Jake has always seemed to want kids in the past. Like when they were babysitting Terry's kids in Moo Moo, he definitely seemed to want kids eventually... It definitely seemed to come out of nowhere just to cause some drama between them. Plus, the way Amy handled it seemed kinda mean. Like, I get that she wanted kids and didn't have as much time as Jake would've to have a baby, but it just seemed very dismissive of his feelings and fears the way she went about it...
