What's even more stunning about SHINee is that they all have Master's degrees? And Jinki was working on his PhD?? Ah, Jinki, aka Fake Maknae...i swear he ages backwards. MInho is genuinely an actor whose talents have yet to be plumbed. He was in various dramas before starring in Derailed, in a part that was written for him and is eye-opening. Illang too, even though his part was mostly edited out. He just needs the right vehicle and he will. be. huge.

Key's album FACE is fantastic, as is his Japanese release, Hologram (CITY GIRL FOR LIFE). And as you can see, he's an incredible dancer. FACE has a very wide range, musically, while Hologram is more of an early 80s feel to it. Can't wait for you to react to more of their solo stuff! Oh, I highly recommend you watch walawala's stunning three part series called The Growth of Lee Taemin. They put an incredible amount of work into it and....it'll help you understand his pov.

Also, there's a theory about his performance of Rainy Blue at the Tokyo Dome in 2015 (it was briefly featured in the Very Shinee Guide video you reacted to a while ago, but I highly recommend watching the whole thing) - I could be completely wrong but echoing what I've heard other shawols say, it was one of his first solo performances a Shinee concert since his full recovery which is why he got emotional/teary at the end of it. It was proof to himself and to his fans that he could still sing as well as he did before.

You were correct about Onew's past surgery! He had to have vocal fold nodules removed in mid-2014. As a singer myself, I can tell you nodules are both extremely common and extremely feared for singers lol They usually happen from overusing your voice or singing without properly warming up over a long period of time. They can make it painful to speak and sing, and will often change your voice and range drastically (a friend of mine got them as a teenager - she used to have a very high, light voice; now it has a permanent rasp and is much lower). They don't always require surgery, but in Onew's case, he needed it in order to have any hopes of recovering his voice fully. After the operation, he could not speak at all for about 3 months (which is a bit long for this condition... maybe there were additional complications?) and even after he was able to use his voice again, he needed to carefully re-train it to get all his technique back without damaging it again. All the while, there was the very real possibility that even after the surgery and long recovery time, his voice simply would not sound the same. Thankfully, his recovery went even better than anyone could have hoped - he's said he thinks his voice sounds even better than before!

Aw, I was wondering about that. That’s too bad. Well anyway, this was so much fun! You definitely have the perfect description for Hwasa, our Queen of the Sirens. Her cover of Watermelon Sugar is certainly better than the original, I agree completely. I also mean no disrespect to Harry Styles or Rihanna, or anyone she covers really, but when Hwasa takes a song and makes it her own, there’s just no going back. I was so happy for you to get a taste of rapper Hwasa at her finest, because we really don’t get to see enough of that side of her lately in Mamamoo, so most people don’t even know that side of her exists, and just how good she is at it that she can keep up with the top rappers if she wanted to. I also wanted you to get a taste of dancer Hwasa, but I’m sure you already know how good she is at that as well. I really enjoy being able to show you so many different sides of her at once. She is just a creative genius, a complex individual and a jack of all trades. She can literally do anything, I just love her so much!
