I am half way through season 2, and OMG. I bought a whole netflix subscription to watch this show, and all I can say is oh my god. Your gunna love season 2 and on.

He just did a lot of questionable things and is not really a likeable character. Maybe some of the hate is just hating cause of the majority. But most of it is because of his actions. I also think it has a lot to do with how he was viewed when it aired vs how he's seen now.

This show is definitely more enjoyable now than the last time I tried watching it. I just find Dawson’s over dramatic ramblings hilarious. Side note, I saw that you were eyeing Cowboy Bebop. It’s probably Netflix advertising their live action remake. I highly recommend you watch the original anime series instead, even if it’s just for yourself.

2021-11-20 18:07:29 +0000 UTCI think the reason people tend to hate on main characters more often is because MC’s are generally designed to be more relatable and grounded so they can act in some cases as an audience surrogate. So when the shows they’re in put them next to more eccentric and quirky characters they come of as boring and obnoxious. Like the case with Tori and Cat or Jade. I think the best example for this would be Diane form Bojack Horseman. I don’t know if you’ve seen it and she’s not actually the main character, but she is the most realistic and down to earth character so whenever she messes up some viewers would generally give her more grief than her more quirky counterparts when they mess up

2021-11-20 02:32:11 +0000 UTCI’m binging the show (on season 4 currently) and this is my first time watching it ever in my life and right off the bat I could tell that Dawson was gonna be one of those main characters that ppl don’t like but I actually like him. Especially from seeing how ppl on social media hate main characters like Tori from Victorious or Scott from Teen Wolf and I love both of those characters (I haven’t gone on any social media posts of Dawson’s Creek at all bcuz I’m not finished yet so I don’t actually know if ppl hate Dawson but I just assume)
