WENDY - 'Like Water' Album Listening Party | REACTION

This album is so personal, it’s like Wendy decided to open up her soul to us & say, “here I am, take it or leave it....” This was so long overdue, & (unnecessarily) prolonged by what must have been one of the strangest, scariest & most difficult times in her life! Not only did she harness all those emotions she must have been feeling but she laid them bare for all to witness. It was exactly what I had hoped & expected it to be but it was so much more! It’s interesting that you brought up how being away from performing could affect her confidence because Wendy struggled with confidence issues for years, even well after their debut. I can’t even imagine the thoughts that crept into her head over the last year... Wendy is the best vocalist in kpop right now...fight me. There may be some with more range, more power, better tone or whatever but her combination of unmistakable talent & the willingness to pour her heart & soul into her music is unmatched. Wendy has often called Irene “this generations best woman”, well I’m calling Wendy is this generations best singer! Like Water is a beautiful song & mv (when the strings come in about halfway through & she breaks into that subtle ad lib, come on!) but when I heard When this Rain Stops (Wendy’s Rain Stops!) I DID cry like a baby! I finally (barely) get over that breakdown and I’m hit with the collab with Seulgi, Best Friend......I’m just done! Notice on the album the song is credited “with Seulgi”, & not “featuring Seulgi” I also love the fact that Joy was the mc for her mini “showcase” interview. I swear when she was introducing Wendy & the album it looked as though she might cry. Of course we all know that Wannie is Joys biggest cheerleader so turnabout is fair play. Joy was so proud & supportive, as they all were! I read that when she first heard the recording of Best Friend she did cry. I fucking love Red Velvet! Clearly SM doesn’t get everything right but one thing they do is let their tremendously talented vocalists be vocalists without complicating things. This album is just stunning!
