@Callie Foster: Was It I Hate Jen Heaven? I remember that site but I was too young and didn't understand English as well to hang out in a forum. I remember TWOP was fun but so scary, Fanforum was the easiest place to hang out with DC fans and later Gilmore Girls, OTH, Everwood, etc.

@Dove I miss TWOP lol. And I remember the Jen hate. there used to be some site I went to to sink into that cause I was like 11 at the time and was Team Joey, and super ignorant and slut shame-y sadly. Now I know better, and yeah the Jen hate was a mess and super unwarranted.

I'd say Dawson was well liked for the first two seasons but reviewers in Mighty Big TV which later became Television Without Pity also hated him from the begining and that was the place I used to hang out back then. Jen was the character who got the most hate in season 1, undeservedly so IMO.

Actually surprise that so many people do not like Dawson XD, wonder what people think back then. A side note, it just hurts me everytime I see how Joey sits like she is holding herself and insecure :(

Yesss we all on the Dawson hate train lmao. Hate is a strong word, but he is an awful character with all the narcissistic things he says. But we can still love the show despite Dawson because the other characters make it all worth it ❤️❤️❤️

Watching this episode now and you seemed confused when Dawson told his mom 'I have a new award for you, It's a Red A and you wear it on yoru chest.' This is a reference to the book 'The Scarlet Letter'. In that book, at the time it takes place if you were caught having an affair you were forced everyday going forward to wear this garment that had a big red 'A' on it for 'Adultry', so that way everywhere you went, everyone who saw you knew that you committed adultry and they would shun you because of it.

Yes we stan Jen Lindley! I just adore her character. Other than Pacey she's the only character to me that actually makes sense when she speaks 😂😂 She has her moments but overall her and Pacey are the ones I connect to the most. Dawson on the other hand............ I literally cannot with every bit of dialogue that comes out of his mouth

oh and yes your analysis on Dawson is spot on. He has total tunnel vision and only sees his own problems and his own life. I still to this day don't understand how he got to be the lead character when he is clearly the most unlikeable out of the main characters.

I think it's so terrible that Jen was labeled a slut by everyone (her parents, her grandmother, Dawson, everybody at school) when someone took advantage of her when she was 12 and she got dragged down a bad path because of it.

This is how I feel about lovely Dawson if there was a lost puppy I bet Dawson would be like oh no but I won’t help you because my life is all about me and if it was Pacey he would be the first one to help that puppy it’s Pacey and he’s the best and don’t worry one more ep of that Pacey stuff and then you are done

By the way, I have a soft spot for Michelle Williams because she was in the first movie centered around lesbian storylines I ever saw back in the year 2000. It's called If These Walls Could Talk 2. It was part of an anthology with stories about women, the first part (If These Walls Could Talk 1) was about abortion rights and the second part was about LGBT rights and It was centered on lesbian storylines. So Michelle was one of the first actresses I remember playing gay. This was right before Willow and Tara in Buffy!

I knew you'd end up liking Jen ahead of schedule Juli (I loved her from the begining but many fans took a while). I'm so glad. This show has the ideas of the 90's regarding sex even thought at the time they felt really new and freeing. But Jen's experience was definitely rape, Pacey's experience with his brother was abuse and what is going on between Pacey and Tamara Is wrong and at the time the show couldn't still call what happened with the correct words because we weren't having those conversations openly back then.
