We're preparing now to leave for a trip across the ocean to film a documentary. I cannot wait to show everyone the final results :)

2025-01-26 06:35:57 +0000 UTCIf you want to check the fabric content of your grandmothers coat without the 18million dollar piece of equipment you can unpick the lining and cut a small piece out of the seam allowance and do a burn test. There’s lots of charts online that will show you how different fibres react. Definitely wouldn’t be as accurate but would give you some idea and it’s pretty easy to see if it’s a natural fibre or not because synthetics burn like plastic. Also love all the stories connected to your clothes!

2024-05-10 05:30:12 +0000 UTCi have something simlar to the grail problem that most of yall should know or probably know and thats the newness factor. when get a piece and its really good and its exciting and you wear it all week maybe all month. its this honeymoon phase of sorts, but eventually that novelty can wear off and you just jones for the next new and exciting piece. i almost equate it to a white whale situation. so yeah be mindful of the white grail phenomenon please

2024-05-02 03:22:17 +0000 UTCThere's a possibility you could get the zipper on your jacket repaired at a luggage repair place (or certainly replaced by a tailor). Idk if luggage repair would be willing to do clothing, but they have a lot of zipper expertise. Lovely to hear about your family's relationship to clothing and objects also. Your grandfather's attitude of nice clothing as a solution to a problem reminds me of a writing exercise I was asked to do in a class setting that I return to about every six months. It's a series of questions on why and how you get dressed and what you're trying to say when you do--seems like he knew his own answers to these questions quite clearly.
