EXO - 'The War' Album Listening Party | REACTION

The War is the first EXO album I bought, I pulled a Xiumin PC. I stanned in 2018 and always wish I found them sooner. Also, I do believe I found them just when I needed to as well. Thank you so so so much for the album listening party! I can't wait for more! Hope you're staying happy and healthy!

AAah it's here! But nooo hahaha you didn't listen to the actual repackage "the power of music", thought you would even if it said the war, but thus you missed three songs (including their title track "power", of course), but MOSTLY one, "sweet lies", that I swear you neeeed to listen to haha, you'll see what I mean once heard. Anyway thanks a lot! I totally feel you about "chill" and "touch it", first time I heard them, mostly touch it, I wasn't too sure about them, that's the kind of songs that indeed need to be listen to more than once for me to wrap my head around them. But as for pretty aaaall the Exo songs, watching their live performance always makes me love them 10 times more, if possible orz. Haha and yeah, that's what exo b-sides tracks are, exo-l usually even prefer them to their title tracks, which is a lot to say. I'll go as far as saying that none of their title tracks are in my top 10 fav exo songs ô_ô And in this album, which is probably my fav, kokobop is in fact the ONLY song I never listen to lmao. "Going crazy" is till this day in my top tier exo songs... Would never get tired of it. Unfortunately idk if you know, but it has been announced that their new album "don't fight the feeling" will only include FIVE songs T_T I mean that's already nice but I was sooo disappointed haha. BUT ALERT, Lay will be joining this comeback fheiofhi (idk if it's gonna be like in DMUMT but aah). He still can't go to korea tho. AAAND another veeery good new, starting from the May 31st, "exo arcade season two" will be released everyday and there's gonna be six episodes! They did the season one back in 2018, it's just a little variety show that's very short (nothing like exo ladder hahaha) but veeery fun and yep, so happy we get to have new content in that matter. Kyungsoo, Jongin, Sehun, Baek, Chanyeol and Minseok will be in it! Maybe you'd like to check it out as it's new and all, so just letting you know! I talked so much again. Hehe... see you~~ love

so my guesses before watching were Forever, Diamond, Chill and Going crazy. The Eve was the B-side they promoted alongside kokobop during promotions so there are many many live stages which also probably makes the streaming for it make sense yES forever really does go so insane, the first time I heard this album and this song(on a bus lmao) I remember because I was just so taken by surprise. this album is a really special one for me because it was my first one as an exo-l, so it just holds a lot of memories and feelings for me, and it is one of my favourite albums all-round, but then, I really do love exes discography to the point where. I really can’t think of a single bad song. I really had so much fun watching and vibing with this one, and it makes me even more excited for more album listens, and even more so, when you get to them, the concerts like elyxion ! Also, for lotto repack, coming back for the Chinese versions sounds like a good plan, you might find that for a few like xoxo repack, because most of the Chinese albums are separated between Korean and Chinese versions like love me right repack.

As far as buying the albums...unfortunately, even though EXO is still an active group, SM isn't still manufacturing the albums, and they aren't going to sell like they would if they had just been released, so some of their albums are quite hard to find. You can find Chinese versions of a lot of them, on Amazon, etc. However, for The War, Power of Music, Love Shot, Exodus, Love Me Right, XOXO, to get the Korean version, and in some cases, even just the Chinese versions, you have to really hunt. YesAsia has been the best source I have found to get some of these harder to find albums, and they are reasonably priced. I would try there first. I also get my items a lot faster through them (although it still isn't super fast, I mean it is international shipping here). That's the only place that I found with Korean versions of The Power of Music available still (that album repackage was amazingly popular, and people bought all the versions of the album because they each had a page to a comic featuring EXO...it is their coolest album!). I also managed to snag a copy of XOXO through them, and that never showed up ANYWHERE else.

EXOL2020

Oh man, The War is a great album. Definitely their most experimental. To me, The War kind of represents EXO spreading their wings with their music. They had already established themselves as titans of the Kpop industry, so they could/can afford to play around more with their sound. Although their albums have always been fairly diverse (aka, the album has different style tracks on it), so there are bound to be a songs on any of their albums to please any musical preference, but this also means that not all songs are going to please all people. I am one of those people that like all of their songs, although in the beginning, I didn't really like ballads. At all. I would instantly skip any slow songs. I started listening to them though, when I began watching reactions, and learned to really appreciate ballads. So thanks EXO! Man, it's so hard to pick a favorite track off this album. Forever and Diamond are top of the list for me. Although I really love Walk on Memories too...Ugh. I can't choose! Don't Mess Up My Tempo and Obsession are phenomenal albums, lots to love on both! I think you will like Obsession...it has some songs that go very hard! Touch It and Chill both grew on me when I watched the live performance. I really think that enhances the song for people. EXO sells albums of their live concerts because they are JUST that good. Diamond and Forever live?! Those were out of this world.

EXOL2020

I really like this album, not in my EXO top-3 albums but it definitely is great. Pretty much all of the songs grew on me, but The Eve (of course) and Walk on Memories stood out to me the most on my first listen. Ko Ko Bop I had to listen a couple times to get into it. Forever and Diamond I started really liking after I've seen the live performance video of their concert, it was just so impressive. Although I really do like the songs they added in the repackage, Power (has an MV, not sure if you've seen it but it's so fun), Boomerang and Sweet Lies. Probably I prefer the repackaged version. I just can't wait for you to start watching their concerts, it will be so lit. Many EXO songs that I didn't quite vibe with I started liking after seeing the live performance. They are just THAT good. Finding some of their albums like The War and The Power of Music (if you'll be interested) is pretty tough. Also, Lotto, EXACT and their earlier albums would be difficult to find (or they will be just really expensive). We all know SM sucks in reprinting the albums. I'm pretty sure it's out of stock on ktown4u, although you might be able to find it on Amazon or YesAsia. If you know SirAustin, he is a reactor who really became EXO-biased really quickly, he somehow managed to find so many, even rare ones, unsealed EXO albums, I think you can try asking him where he got them. And Obsession is so good, you should definitely listen to it sometime in the near future! Even my non-kpop friend had it on repeat for a few days after she randomly heard Obsession on my playlist and I didn't even make her listen to the whole album lmao. Giving Chinese versions a listen is definitely worth it! And you should definitely check the lyrics for Chinese version (whenever you want to) because they are actually sometimes quite different from the Korean versions (like they carry a different undertone sometimes or convey different emotions) and it's really interesting. But I really would not recommend to listen to the whole repackage in one go, it would be really hard to keep focus. I think separating it into two parts like you said is a good idea. Sorry for the essay lol. I have no self-restraint when it comes to talking about EXO
