I honestly shock myself when I think about how these episodes aired around 23 or 24 years ago. To be honest, I kind of relate to Dawson's personality: too much tv, too little living like a teenager and too much pretending to be more mature than I was. But I wasn't an only child and my parents weren't that cool with me so I didn't relate to the honest talks between Dawson and his dad. And I was gay so there was that. I still really enjoyed this storyline with Jen. In regards to Andie's storyline, I think this was one of the first times I ever saw a show actually showing a character taking medication for mental health, back then there was such a huge stygma around it. This was around the time 90210 was still airing it's final seasons and years before One Tree Hill came out (another show that took great lenghts to avoid mental health discussion until its fifth season with Nathan and later in season six with Brooke and Haley in season eight). Buffy would have a great storyline about depression in season 6 (which aired about three years after these Dawson's Creek episodes) but they never placed the story in a place where you could see real medical help. Everwood is probably a show that did well with it with Amy's character and Once and Again had really great storylines with Jesse's bulimia but that was an adult show with teenage characters, not a teen show. I think Everwood could also not be fully classified as a teen show either so I'm still really blanking on shows in the 90's and early 00's made towards a teen audience where we could see a focus on mental health which would include the use of medication.

Abby is actually sickening and I always find Andie/Jack with their family life to be so interesting and such a good addition especially going forward. Also, I was rewatching s3 (for the millionth time) this week and I honestly cannot wait until you get there, it is actually impeccable.
