2022-10-04 08:44:55 +0000 UTCSPOILERS AHEAD so here's a few fun facts about the movie! at the beginning, when Rose is talking to the cops, she's not defending Chris from them, she's defending herself. if the cops got Chris' ID, and he went missing, they would've known Chris was last seen with Rose. she was insisting to not show his ID, so that there wasn't a paper trail leading back to her. second, when Rose is eating the fruit loops and milk separately, it's a visual metaphor. when you put the milk into the fruit loops, the colors mix, and it's a metaphor for their hatred of people's skin colors ! lastly, when Chris escapes from the chair, he literally picks cotton out of it to plug his ears, signifying the slaves picking cotton. Jordan Peele is a GENIUS !!!

With the whole gabby petito I do feel bad for what happened to her but it did help shine a light on racism and how society reacts to a young white girl with blonde hair compared to someone who is non white. (I know a lot of people roll their eyes and don't like addressing it but its real life deny it all you like) There is an alterative ending to this movie which I won't spoil but I much prefer this ending its more light hearted. I remember reading comments that the cop in the start of the movie was asking Chris for his ID after seeing Rose's because of the missing black guys and not out of racism, not sure about that theory but it is an interesting one but people interpret the movie different ways. Anyway glad you liked it.
