People cling to this confession so much and it baffles me-lol- because at this point when I was watching in real time, with everything i've been shown, I did think it was important to the plot but it is far from the romantic gesture people seem to hail it as. It was plot appropriate but it was not sweet. Ricky was in pain and I was sad for him in this moment because it was narrative specific and the actor portrayed as much. This is not a confession of current, budding and hopeful love. It's a confession wrought with fear of the unknown; a teenager clinging to the familiar/comfortable because he is incapable of accepting change. To this point in the story, his parents' separation was a catalyst to showcase the evolution of a relationship and contrast his plot line with change/Nini. It was obvious he would try to mend things with the wrong intentions. Anyway, I could talk all day, lol but thank you for being honest about what you're seeing on screen, I enjoy your reactions.

I also actually was on board with a possibly ej and gina romance. And even thought we have different opinions, im exited for you to react to season 2. probably my fave season.

I can't wait for your season 2 reactions. Although it is not as good as season 1 or 3 it has some great moments. And I think the show the theater kids put on in Season 2 is my favorite of all the seasons.

2022-12-24 06:48:40 +0000 UTCdon’t worry about how fast you upload juli we’re all gonna here! i’m even gonna rewatch s2 for you which i never thought i’d willingly do (let me stop joking i don’t want you think it’s that bad i just didn’t enjoy the second half but there were still some good moments. i hope you’ll like the season though 😭😭). i said it in my ep 9 comment but ricky seeing his mom and todd is also making change real for him and he can’t handle seeing his mom with someone that isn’t his dad. seeing todd and his mom makes him realize things are truly changing and he hates that especially bc he wanted to believe his parents were maybe making up. him saying “it was like how it used to be”. at first it was kind of a theory that he hated change but these last 2 episodes really showed us he did. it’s also interesting him saying he wants things to be how they used to be considering his speech to nini and what it entails. and his mom telling him sometimes people change. he’s not ready to hear that or accept that especially shown with him walking away and ignoring what she’s saying but maybe one day he (hopefully) will be ready to accept that. i think it’s especially interesting that his mom tells him maybe not all couples are meant to be together. i know it’s ricky’s love confession scene but just the way he went about it …. ricky says he never outgrew her which in my opinion is not a good thing. it can be if he grew as a person and realized he still wanted to be with her but that seemingly isn’t happening. he says he wants this feeling to keep going. he doesn’t want their relationship to end and he’s not ready for it to. on one hand yes it’s completely understandable he wants to give their relationship another try and i think they do deserve to see where it can go. but when you take him saying things like him not being ready for it to be over, not outgrowing her, not ready to give up on their relationship, and just talking about their past moments together and you compare it to his mother trying to tell him that sometimes ppl change and not all relationships are meant to be and him wanting things to feel like they used to (like he said in their conversation) and not wanting to accept his parents are moving on…. it’s like ricky what are you really doing this confession for? JUST because you’re still in love with her? no other reason? are you sure? like again it was romantic and fair enough it was cute even if that first i love you gave me a jump scare. i’m really glad he was able to overcome him not being able to express himself but i genuinely think this entire scene proves what you and a lot of us are saying. like you said i think they should live in this moment (their original duet is called just for a moment funnily enough) see where their relationship takes them and if it’s what they truly want from each other. i also see ricky and gina being a long haul thing because he needs character development and while i agree he definitely would have tried to move on with gina if she stayed i think ultimately it’s a good idea that nothing happens at this moment. he also doesn’t seem to realize just how strong his feelings for gina may potentially be like you said. right now i just think he thinks ok gina is leaving for good and i’m in love with nini she’s who i want. maybe he thinks whatever feelings he had for gina are gone. will he realize that’s a mistake? maybe or maybe not. the way i just laughed at your reaction to that ej and gina scene 😭😭 it’s very predictable for them to do something with them as they’re the two single ones …not my cup of tea especially bc ej is about to graduate but i know LOTS of people ship them. i do not get it at all especially because they have the least amount of chemistry on this show and that i’ve seen in awhile in general but that’s just my opinion and others can disagree. i think it would be nice for gina to have some relationship experience of her own though! i think it’s nice for ej to finally do something for someone else. it’s what he needed to do for some character development and i’m grateful that he was able to bring gina back since he was the only one with the money to do it too. the ship name for big red and ashlyn is redlyn! they’re cute but i like a certain ship involving one of them more than redlyn.

2022-12-24 06:30:19 +0000 UTCi was going to mention the video calls too! idk if juli’s interested in seeing them but the link for the playlist with them is right here https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1Fd9sawh4O3rGht175hobRBLeoKZmWjJ but if i remember correctly if you don’t want to watch them juli the most notable things that happen in the video calls is ricky talks about gina in one of them and is surprised and seemingly a little conflicted about the fact she’s staying and he said she didn’t talk to anyone at the after party and nini trying to avoid telling ricky about her opportunity. just looked again ashlyn talks about throwing her a welcome party and he’s like “so the rumors are true she’s actually staying” and he says “it’s hard to believe she’d stick around she barely talked to anyone at the cast party last night”

To this day I still have not watched the full scene because I find it quite cringe. I will say Ricky going back to Nini makes sense for his character, especially with where he is in terms of accepting change. Also, Gina and Ricky just have such a natural chemistry and you can see longing between them every time they speak it's just magical. There are some phone call clips that take place between this season and season two. I don't know if you are interested in watching them or if anyone else thinks she should. I don't have a direct link for them though. Overall, I'm really really looking forward to you starting the next season and seeing how you feel about it. It has its ups and downs but there are some moments between certain characters that I think you will enjoy. Also they just finished filming season four so it's coming in the next few months!
