Rewatching these, Im not crazy about Nini and Ricky either however I live for the storytelling, drama, and angst so their emotional breakup is always everything to me. I did get sad despite not being invested in their relationship

i definitely agree and i think people were being too hard on both of them in 2b. i think a lot of the reason she doesn’t want to admit to him that a lot of it has to do with him is because it’s kind of admitting there’s problems in the relationship and i don’t think she really wants to acknowledge that. and same with ricky with ignoring the rose song until lily got into his head

I know I am pretty alone with this opinion but I like Gina and EJ just the tiniest bit more than Gina and Ricky. I am okay with Rina, it's far from the worst option but still, I really enjoy Portwell ^_^

i like to remember that they're only 16, and teenagers do dumb stuff all the time without thinking about how it will hurt the people they're close to. i think nini is just trying to find herself, and calling herself nina again is what she thinks is best for her. she's just trying to understand who she is, but i wish she'd communicate that with ricky. but again, teenagers tend to suck at communicating haha

in regards to nini and ricky, i think while lily definitely got into his head i’m surprised that he was so chill before she did. because nini is insisting that this song is an about him when it clearly is and now she’s changing what she goes by aka ricky’s nickname that he gave her. i don’t know it’s frustrating because neither of them are communicating and nini is insisting this song is not about him when it very clearly is and now she’s changing her name to nini? she’s gonna tell ricky next that it doesn’t have anything to do with him at all? like of course she’s doing it for herself, and she wants to be someone new and her own person but that does come with the fact that it’s ricky she’s distancing from. honestly, you explained all of my problems with ej and gina as a couple when you were talking about them. i know chemistry is subjective but genuinely they have no chemistry to me. like you said to me they are incredibly awkward and all of their scenes make me cringe. i genuinely would skip their scenes and only watch them through gifs because i couldn’t handle how much i was cringing watching them. and i think sofia is a spectacular actress, but generally when i’m watching their scenes it feels like they’re waiting for the director to yell cut 😭😭 and that’s subjective i know there are a lot of portwell (gina and ej) shippers, but i don’t get it and like you said gina has not even had any closure with ricky. she’s buried her feelings, iced him out and now she’s moving on to the first person that has shown her interest. which fair enough that’s fine but it’s so obvious to me that ej is genuinely just a rebound. and in regards to ej’s feelings i have no idea where they came from. they didn’t even interact until episode five of this season and they had a two second conversation where he asked her how she was and he suddenly liked her? like i said i can see why she would like him because he’s asked how she’s feeling and is caring about how she’s feeling and it’s easy to fall for that when you really need it and i don’t blame her but ej? where the hell did this come from? like I guess I can just chalk it up to they're both in vulnerable spots with him being rejected from duke and all of the stuff that’s going on with gina and they just are seeking comfort in each other but it’s so ….surface level feeling? idk also, your comment about ricky and gina and the flashback and how all of their scenes can’t mean nothing is literally how i was feeling in season two i was like is the show gaslighting me right now ? HDJDSJSJ
