I had a twitter account watching season 1 and 2 of HSMTMTS being judged, ridiculed, and name called for feeling literally nothing for Rina. Eventually I just stopped shipping altogether on this show except Carlos and Seb and than Ashlyn and Maddox. It just felt better. But this show wasn't even the most toxic shipping wars I have been a part of. Almost all shipping is toxic, always has been and social media has only made it worse.

2023-08-16 05:03:37 +0000 UTCShipping can go either way. It can be toxic sometimes definitely, but if people passionately ship couples on a show that makes the show much more popular. Ships get shows exposure on social media especially. On HSMTMTS it's been a bit of both. The ship wars between Rinis, Portwells and Rinas can be very nasty. But the passion of each group of shippers has helped the show get a lot of attention, like some of the Rina videos from season 4 have got millions of views on TikTok. And the Madlyn and Redlyn shippers can be nasty. But the passion for both ships and the debates about them and about queer couples in all their forms have started some important conversations. So I think while shipping can be toxic it's also important in many ways to a shows success.

People were already shipping Madlyn and in fandom once a ship takes off the writers are backed into a corner and they either can keep a canon ship together and piss people off or breakup that couple that most likely is great and yes people still might get angry but not as much. That's why shipping is toxic in general and can ruin a show/the writers plans for the show.

2023-08-16 04:18:50 +0000 UTCI totally LOVE the Ricky and Gina rain kiss, cutest moment!! Their chemistry is on another level!! 😍 I really liked all the moments between EJ and Ricky. I'm not the biggest fan of EJ but he gave Ricky the perfect advice there. And it was SO great to see two guy friends opening up about their feelings, crying in front of each other, saying they love each other and hugging. That's SO important to see on screen I think. Plus their duet was great. And Kourtney's song is one of my favourite performances of the season. Dara's voice is INCREDIBLE!! Like wow!! But I also hated the storyline of Big Red cheating on Ashlyn with Seb. As a bi woman myself, I'm really disappointed that such an inclusive show did the most hurtful and wrong bisexual stereotype. I always liked Big Red and Ashlyn together and I do wish more shows would have characters realizing that they're bi while staying in their opposite sex relationships, this happens a lot with bisexuals in real life but EVERY time a character on screen comes out as bi they immediately have to end up with someone of the same sex. And yes we need more same sex relationships on screen, 100%, but having a bisexual in a straight passing relationship and dealing with the struggles that come with that is also representation and I was hoping we'd get that with Big Red and Ashlyn tbh. But I do ship Madlyn as well as Redlyn so I'm ok with that happening. I just wish they didn't have him cheat, that actually really hurt me. It's the only thing I don't like about this season. 🙈 But apart from that, this episode was another great one. And I can't wait for the next episode. Some BIG things are coming. 😊
