My country is part of Latinoamérica, what are you talking about? Lol 😂 what’s different here is how the Mexican/Americans celebrate this party in the US (and the US is not part of Latinoamérica) Bc trust me it’s different in every other country.

This is how all of those parties are done over here, having been to a couple myself. It’s very normal in America for people to celebrate their culture in their own way without worrying too much about tradition.

2023-09-10 16:30:57 +0000 UTCI think the reason why these Hollywood shows have so much Mexican American content is because they are produced in Southern California, where the Mexican American population is above 80% of the Hispanic population. But you also get alot of Salvadorian and Guatemalan characters and actors. In Broadway, for example, you get to see more Puerto Rican and Dominican representation (like in West Side Story or In The Heights) because they have larger percentages of the hispanic population in New York. And in Miami, where Telemundo is producing content in Spanish, you see mostly Cuban representation and lately some Venezuelan because they are the largest hispanic groups there.

2023-09-10 02:58:05 +0000 UTCTrueee I rarely ever see Dominicans/ Dominican Americans represented on TV in the US or American television. It would be nice if they did.

2023-09-10 02:48:59 +0000 UTCYes! Exactly my point! As a Latina I wish shows nowadays could do some research and maybe not take just the one way to do something as typical as a quince. Bc we Latinos have sooooooo many traditions and do things so different that it could be cool seeing them been portrait more specific. I get she is Mexican/Italian/American but hopefully Hollywood realizes that there are so many more countries to choose from. Bc there a LOT of Peruvian Americans too. Idk 🤷♀️ just my two cents lol

2023-09-10 02:25:29 +0000 UTCOk so I’m Dominican and I’ve never heard Quinceañero ever, in my country and many others I believe it’s Quinceañera. It could be different everywhere. it could be Quinceañero in some places and Quinceañera in others. As well as the traditions, not everywhere is going to have the same dances, traditions, ceremonies etc. This is a American show with some Mexican aspects sprinkled into it, not a Mexican show. So it’s not going to be completely accurate to Mexican quinceañeras because in the United States if your Mexican American your going to have both cultures sprinkled in not one or the other. So while the dance may not have been accurate and the shoe ceremony might have been. That’s accurate to how Mexican Americans would celebrate in America. Because Alex wasn’t born in Mexico she’s not going to do or have all the things at her party her mom might have done.
