RM watched Friends to learn english but he's also very smart with an IQ of 148, and he seems to be amazing at memorizing, so i think he also studied as well and found ways to learn it quickly. He said he rewatched the show Friends many times and i guess since he watched with subtitles first, he memorized what they said during scenes and then figured it out (he watched with korean subtitles, then with english subtitles, then with none).
