N Their pronouns (sidestepping that, as a god, neither Slaneesh or any of the other Goth gods have a gender), it is a bit wierd how the only genderdiverse/fluid one is "the kinky debauchery one", and how GW apperantly has picked out "He" as a pronoun, when it shifts a bit in universe. Since the eldar use "She who thirsts". Real, "we are a bunch of cis, white, hetero guys who are skewed out by The Trans/Queers".

2023-10-23 10:27:11 +0000 UTCI wonder if Slaneesh is based on any real life mythological deity? Based on the androgeny angle, and fertility association. Im getting heavy "Inanna-Ishtar" vibes. Which also would be a "occult goth godess" going around the 80. Which, well, seeing how brittish society demonises trans peoole with a fervor, explains "alot". Since Inanna-Ishtar had a, what we would call today, a trans/genderqueer priesthood.

My main problem with the book - apart from the length - was that the sexy stuff that seduced both humans and Astartes came off as bad wannabe edgy 50 Shades of Grey fanfic to me. And that kind of lessened the impact of the fall of the Emperor's Children for me, because it all just became a bit silly, campy and badly written. Also: Can Black Library maybe put a temporary ban on the trope of Primarchs falling to chaos because they find a talking weapon that turns out to be evil?

Do you think our protagonist Kaesoron becoming evil and cumming into his suit at the novels climax helps keep Fulgrim feeling unique compared to the other 4 initial books?

2023-10-17 16:27:50 +0000 UTCI understand if you don't want to talk about this because it's not in the book, but do you think the Reflection Cracked short story was a mistake? Was there any reason to retcon Fulgrim's fall? I can understand wanting to give Fulgrim more agency as a character, but for me it really cheapens the ending of this book which I thought was one of the most dramatic parts of the Horus Heresy.

OR Was his loss actually a major loss for Imperial forces to provide the leadership that his legion used to provide?
