I feel like one of the things that gets me about the Space Wolves is they're just the most obviously incorrect about the Warp. So I just can't get behind even their more sympathetic portrayal in this compared to Thousand Sons, because it's just extremely obvious that rune priests are psykers and the Craftworlds go further into the Warp than anybody and aren't corrupted by Chaos. It's kind of just the Dragon Age mage problem all over again, where the obvious solution is "they should just be educated about the danger of demons and why listening to them is a bad idea while also getting taught magic"

"We despise subterfuge, except for when we are infiltrating our own allies for information to undermine them." "We watch for transgression from the other Primarchs whilst Leman Russ ignores every rule he doesn't like." However, I suspect my antipathy is rooted in the 2nd edition codex which was just better than the other Marines in every possible way.

2025-01-14 17:21:45 +0000 UTCI am Danish and actually live in the city that was our capital during the "viking age*". And I fucking HATE vikings. Don't know why but I think they are the cringiest thing to care about and identify with. It might be because there is an overlap between viking reenacters, metal heads and the Danish roleplaying scene. And the dudes from the viking scene have a vibe of either right wing neo pagans and/or really really wanting to tell you that they are manly macho men. So I have skipped Prospero Burns. Not matter how good a writer Abnett is, he cannot overcome my loathing for viking stuff. *The viking age as a separate period is massively disputed by history scholars.
