May 2021 Update

Damn, I can't believe it's been several months since my last public update. This year really seems to be flying in, mostly because it's been a busy time for me. As well as the regular programme of reviews, commentaries and livestreams on the main channel, I've really enjoyed the chance to cover more niche stuff on my After Hours channel. There's less pressure there to produce big, heavy-hitting stuff that will bring in lots of views, so I can just relax a little and talk about older movies that I personally find interesting. And judging by how fast the channel has grown, it seems most people are enjoying it too. 

That's not to say I plan on slowing down with anything else, though. In fact, quite the opposite. Now that the world is opening up again and the summer movie season is on the horizon, I imagine the next several months will finally give me some new movies to sink my teeth into. I've particularly enjoyed doing editorial videos (Why Canon Matters, What Happened to Our Villains etc) discussing the technical and creative side of the movie business, and plan to roll out more videos like that as we move forward. Also, it's been a while since I've done more Drinker Fixes, but that will definitely be put right soon (there's a certain HBO show whose eighth season could use some improvements).

Some people have been asking about the Fantastic Four Production Hell video that got taken down. Yes, that's a thing which happened. Although I can't go into much detail here, the short version is that certain people referenced in the video didn't like what I had to say, and were prepared to take legal action if I didn't remove it. After arguing back and forth for a couple of days, I reluctantly decided that wasn't a hill I was prepared to die on, so down it came. It was inconvenient for sure, but I learned a few valuable lessons about how to make those kinds of videos, so the same thing won't happen again. 

Also, I'm very aware that it can sometimes take me a while to reply to direct messages. This definitely isn't me choosing to ignore anyone, it's simply a result of having a large and growing channel, and lots of people trying to communicate with me at the same time. For this reason, I tend to reply to messages in big chunks every couple of weeks. I do make a point of responding to every single Patreon/Subscribestar message though, so if you've sent one and haven't heard anything back from me yet, rest assured the response will come.
